The effects of safe school gate models

Promoting the leading volunteer of Youth’s League in assuring traffic order and safety, in recent years, Binh Duong Provincial Youth’s League and Department of Education and Training coordinated to apply the models of traffic safety at school gates to improve awareness of parents and students in observing and implementing legal regulations on traffic safety.

To improve observation awareness

Currently, hundreds of schools are residing on streets of majorly high traffic and population density, where traffic jam may occur near the schools every rush hour.

Youth’s League members of Di An Town join up traffic safety assurance at a school gate

To mitigate the effects of traffic jam and resolve the matters affecting traffic safety at the school gates, recently, Binh Duong Provincial Youth’s League coordinated with Department of Education and Training to implement plans and measures to build up teams of traffic guiding at the school gates. Commitments to traffic safety has also been signed while talks to disseminate legal information about traffic safety have been organized. Particularly, the models have brought up practical effects.

Evaluating the model, Mrs. Phan Nguyen Hong Thuy, the acting Principal of Phu Hoa 1 Elementary School, informed of banners hanging and the duties of the volunteer teams in assuring traffic safety at the school areas and streets near the schools. Making use of their own students, each school has established a team of traffic safety to guide, check, and remind other students to observe traffic law and call upon the surrounding public not to occupy the traffic safety line.

Besides, talks and information dissemination of traffic safety as well as youth support in terms of traffic attendance have been implemented, prompting all the students to sign commitments not to violate traffic law and practice traffic safety.

Effectiveness promoted

According to Binh Duong Provincial Board of Traffic Safety, over 240 models of traffic safety have been implemented at the school gates. Of those registered schools for the program, orders have been established at rush hours as parents and students pay more attention to law observation. From the beginning of the year, the Board has coordinated with Department of Education and Training to hang up 580 banners to disseminate legal regulations on helmet wearing for children at 145 elementary and junior high schools in the province.

The establishment of traffic safety models at the school gates has mitigated traffic law violation and disorder at local schools. For the time to come, the Youth’s League will continue its coordination to expand the traffic safety models while organizing various extracurricular activities to educate and improve awareness of traffic safety observation amongst students.
