The green sprouts grown in the former land of fires

On the prosperous land of North Tan Uyen District and for over 40 years, the core land of D Warzone eyes the fruits of industrialization.

Development of high-tech agriculture

Accompanying by Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, a veteran officer, across the green and fast growing rubber plantation in North Tan Uyen District. The land of fierce wartime combat is growing to the day of peace and unification.

At the time of unification and liberation, only a few was staying at the heavily destroyed land of Tan Binh, Dat Cuoc, and Hieu Liem. Hong was among them to rennovate the land for agriculture; however, the then plants were of short-term and only sufficient for daily needs. Then, as the rubber latex price grew, local people eyed brighter appearance.

In 2014, the newly established district of North Tan Uyen gained about VND 1,898.3 billion or 4.13% higher than in 2013 (85.23% of agriculture and 14.77% of husbandry). As for cultivation, North Tan Uyen District was not too dependent on rubber tree. Vesicle fruit trees have become more popular covering up to 1,248 ha or 20.15% higher than in 2013 mainly at communes of Hieu Liem and Tan Dinh.

Currently, orchards have been established in North Tan Uyen District to create famous brands of Hieu Liem orange and pamelo. The district has carried out the programs and agricultural projects attached to science and technology transition from 2013 while establishing construction projects to manage and develop collective brand of Hieu Liem orange and pamelo of North Tan Uyen.

High-tech agriculture of North Tan Uyen also included husbandry of 30 pig farms with 55,300 pigs and 22 chicken farms of about 1.6 million and over 1,950 cattle.

Husbandry status, up to date, is stable regarding the quantity of pigs and poultries. Besides, 9 collectives in the district are operating in the husbandry field with average income of its members at VND 42 million a year, distributing in 109 farms of perennial trees, husbandry and general farm. Those farms help to offer jobs to over 1,130 people with total income by 2014 at about VND 313 billion for average income of VND 2.87 billion a farm annually.

Effective exploitation of industrial parks and clusters

Thanks to the non-stop efforts of developing agriculture, the rural appearance has gradually changed. On such basis, North Tan Uyen District has made dramatic breakthroughs in building up new rural areas. In 2014, the district has fulfilled the establishment and approval of new rural area construction projects for all its communes through the formal inspection and planning. It is expected that by the end of 2015, the district would have 5 communes standardized as new rural areas including Binh My, Thuong Tan, Tan My, Tan Dinh, and Lac An. The remaining communes are to meet 12 to 13 criteria of new rural areas.

As for industry and services, the newly established district showed impressive features. Currently, the district has 4 industrial parks and clusters covering 828.79 ha in infra-construction progress and luring investment projects including Dat Cuoc Industrial Park of 212.84ha, Tan Uyen Urban and Industrial Zone at Tan Binh Commune of 173.69ha, Tan Binh Industrial Park of 353.38ha, Tan My Industrial Cluster of 88.88ha. Dat Cuoc Industrial Park is 47.4% covered with complete infra-construction.

Up to date, 237 enterprises are operating in the locality, of which, 175 are under the authority of the district and 62 are under provincial authority for the registered capital of VND 1,658 billion. In 2014, the production value of industry and handicraft of the district was estimated to be at VND 2,130.6 billion or 12.2% higher than in 2013. Besides, the allocation of investment projects in the locality has conformed with land-use planning.

According to leaders of North Tan Uyen District, in 2015, the district shall continue with action plan for sustainable industry and service development from 2014 to 2015 while boosting industrial growth to about 11-13%. To achieve industrial development target in 2015, the district shall continue to attract more investment into the complete industrial parks and clusters with encouragement of high-tech industries. The district has also reported to Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee of the cases licensed to invest but failed to implement the projects for further processing. The district shall concentrate on diversifying and improving operations of services and trade and follow the planning of trade and service development. Besides, the socialization of new construction, upgrade and innovation of local market places.

It is hard to believe that the once destroyed locality has become so developed to become a prosperous land of industrialization and high-tech agriculture.
