The starter of dancing art in Binh Duong Province

There are teachers who do not teach letters, but still they deserve to be honored by their commitment to students and their contributions to society. It is a dance teacher Nguyen Quoc Thang, 52, one of the first to initiate dancing in Binh Duong Province.

Born to a family of 3 generations of martial art teachers, Nguyen Quoc Thang started to love dancing and become a dance teacher. At 12, despite no formal education, he made it clear by his artistic ability and determination to pursue a passion since then.

Through persistence learning process under the teachings of the prestigious dance teachers at the clubs, by 1989, he officially became a dance teacher. Never satisfied with himself, he has always trying to learn and participate in additional training courses in foreign countries to improve his profession.

In 2007, he was honorably admitted to International Dance Sport Federation (IDSF). Although he is highly appreciated by his professional skill, Quoc Thang did not choose the pathway of professional performance. He spent most of time for the career of fostering and cultivating future the talents. In 2004, accepting the invitation of the provincial Cultural Center (now the Center for Culture and Movies), he chairs the International Dance Club.

"Teaching how to dance is not as easy as it is a special subject, the teaching master must not only be professional but also be creative with his methodology," said Thang. Up to date, countless generations of students have been trained by him. Many of his students became the coaches, some have become dancers, let alone major figures for the arts movement in and outside of the province. His success is not presented by the number of students trained but by the way he had passed the "fire" of passion to so many generations.  And, more remarkably, he has helped to change the perception of people about dancing, thereby creating dance movements in new development stages that not all other dance teachers could do.
