The voiceless blood donation

At the recent commendation conference for exemplary individuals and families who have made voluntary blood donations in Thu Dau Mot city, we had the opportunity to meet some silent heroes who have selflessly donated their blood. For them, giving their blood can help save critically ill patients and bring back the joy of life, which is indescribable in words.

Mr. Tran Minh Hieu and Mrs. Cao Thi Danh

Ready to give away

Although living in Phu Chanh Ward, Tan Uyen City, for many years, Mr. Tran Minh Hieu (born in 1992) has registered to participate in voluntary blood donation with the Red Cross of Phu Cuong Ward, Thu Dau Mot City. Mr. Hieu has participated in voluntary blood donation since his student days, when he was studying in Ho Chi Minh city. In the future, after graduating, I will go back to my hometown to work and continue to register for blood donation to help patients in critical condition. At that time, I knew the information about the blood donation campaign through the Red Cross Society in Phu Cuong Ward, so from then on, every time I registered for voluntary blood donation, I always did it in Phu Cuong. Hieu said that donating blood voluntarily anywhere is aimed at helping patients, so registering anywhere is meaningful, the important thing is that we have enough health to donate blood voluntarily whenever the schedule comes.

Not knowing exactly how many times he has volunteered to donate blood, but according to Mr. Hieu, it's been nearly 20 times since his student days. Recently, Mr. Hieu was honored and rewarded by the provincial Steering Committee for promoting voluntary blood donation for his achievement of donating blood 15 times. Speaking about the significance of voluntary blood donation, Mr. Hieu shared: "I feel that I am healthy enough to register and participate in order to help patients in need of blood for treatment. The first time I went to donate blood, I saw someone faint and felt a bit worried, but after I finished donating and nothing happened to me, I felt relieved. Since then, I have been donating blood every 3 months."

Besides himself, Mr. Hieu also encourages his wife, friends, and colleagues to participate in this meaningful movement. His wife has already donated blood voluntarily 10 times. For Mr. Hieu, everyone has blood, but he is willing to give it away to help patients who are in need so that they can overcome their illness and return to a normal life, which is something very precious and happy. "Every time I receive information about my blood helping someone, even though I don't know who the patient is, I suddenly feel very happy. I will try to regularly participate in voluntary blood donation and encourage more people to join in order to help as many patients as possible," shared Mr. Tran Minh Hieu.

The meaning is to help and save the sick

With Ms. Cao Thi Danh (born in 1962), in Hiep Thanh ward, the affinity for voluntary blood donation movement also came by chance. Although she is a housewife, through television and reading newspapers, she sees that voluntary blood donation carries a high humanitarian value, which is to save people when they are sick and in need of blood for treatment. While not knowing where to register, she heard people working in the neighborhood come to mobilize the neighbors to participate in voluntary blood donation, so she also registered for herself. Since joining blood donation for the first time in 2015, up to now, Ms. Danh has participated in voluntary blood donation 17 times. This meaningful act has also been spread by her to her neighbors, children, and grandchildren so that anyone who is healthy enough will register to participate. Her child not only supports her mother's work, but also follows her example by donating blood whenever there is time. "I always encourage my children to be active, and if they have the opportunity, they should participate as much as possible. Volunteering to donate blood not only brings me joy but also makes me feel healthier. I may not have the financial means to do charity work, but my blood can save others, so I will continue to participate in voluntary blood donation until I am no longer eligible." Mrs. Cao Thi Danh expressed.

Along with effective humanitarian activities, recently, the voluntary blood donation movement in Thu Dau Mot city has received the participation of a large number of people from all walks of life. Voluntary blood donation is not only about saving lives, giving, but also brings joy to the blood donors themselves for helping others. The drops of blood given by compassionate hearts have and will contribute to bringing life and happiness to many patients.
