There will be many practical and meaningful Tet care activities for workers

In 2023, many businesses in the province have faced difficulties in production and business activities due to the general impact of the global economic recession. To ensure that all Trade Union members and workers have a happy Tet, the Provincial Labor Confederation has issued a detailed and specific plan to trade union levels to take care of workers on the coming Tet holidays.

Many practical and effective Tet care activities for workers are jointly performed by trade unions at all levels.

Priority is given to difficult circumstances

The Provincial Labor Confederation is determined to effectively organize practical care activities both physically and mentally for the members and workers; Ensuring that all members and workers have a happy and safe Tet holiday. According to the plan, in addition to strengthening the support of Party committees at all levels, local authorities, departments and branches of the province for trade union activities, especially activities to care for members and workers during the upcoming Lunar New Year, trade unions at all levels continue to call on organizations, businesses, and benefactors to support and devote resources to take care of employees.

The beneficiaries are all trade union members and employees, with priority given to members and employees having particularly difficult circumstances, suffering from labor accidents, occupational diseases, dangerous diseases, natural disasters, epidemics, storms and floods, reduced working hours, job loss; belong to policy families, have not had the opportunity to return home to celebrate Tet for many years; stay at the unit or enterprise to serve production and business activities during Tet; Be a grassroots trade union official who actively participates in union activities; Orphans are children of workers who died of Covid-19.

Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran, Vice Chairman of Provincial Labor Confederation, shared: “The requirements for trade unions at all levels in the province regarding Tet care activities for members and workers are to organize diverse, flexible forms of care, focusing on the grassroots; Pay attention to and take care of employees working in industrial zones and clusters, especially employees at enterprises facing difficulties due to economic recession, order cuts, reduced working hours, and downsizing of production, suspension of operations, dissolution, bankruptcy... Caring activities must be practical, effective, economical, in accordance with regulations, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere, suitable to each local condition."

According to Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran, Tet care activities such as the program "Tet reunion, spring sharing" are organized centrally at the grassroots level and directly at the grassroots level. Depending on actual conditions, trade unions at all levels choose industrial parks and enterprises with large numbers of members and workers facing difficulties to organize the program. Places that do not organize "Tet reunion, spring sharing" focus on appropriate activities for employees and staff to celebrate Tet with activities, such as meetings, gift giving, New Year wishes, performances, folk games, visiting workers' lodging houses, visiting families of members and workers.

Besides, there will be many activities to take care of workers on Tet holiday, such as delegations of Party, State, and provincial leaders visiting, giving gifts, and extending Tet wishes to members and employees, especially members and workers living in difficult circumstances, suffering from serious diseases, labor accidents, lack of or loss of jobs. Programs "Union Tet Market 2024" of Provincial Labor Confederation, "Spring Gratitude Train 2024", "Spring Gratitude Bus 2024", "Tet celebration not far from home" program, Tet meals for orphans who are children of workers who died of Covid-19 will be organized by localities.

Ensure benefits for workers

In addition to proposing effective, safe and economical activities and programs to celebrate spring and celebrate Tet, the Provincial Labor Confederation directed trade unions at all levels in the province to proactively join hands with the authorities to firmly grasp the situation and supervise employers in implementing legal regulations on wages and bonuses for Tet holidays; promptly detect and have solutions to ensure the rights of members and employees in businesses facing difficulties, reduced orders, salary arrears, and inability to pay salaries.

Trade unions at all levels will also regularly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of employees; propagate and mobilize members and workers to enjoy spring, celebrate Tet economically and safely, comply with legal regulations and return to work on time; continue to accompany businesses and employers to improve labor productivity and production efficiency. Along with that, trade unions will strengthen dialogue and negotiation activities with employers on production plans, salaries, Tet bonuses, and care for the material and spiritual life of employees during Tet holiday.

Regarding resources to take care of workers, Tran added: “In addition to calling for social resources, localities, departments, and grassroots trade unions also balance revenues and regular expenses during the year and use regular operating funds to carry out Tet care activities for employees. The superior trade union balances revenues, regular expenses during the year, reserve funds and uses regular operating funds or sources supported by superiors to take care of members and employees at the grassroots trade union according to the allocated quantity.

According to the Provincial Labor Confederation, the level of spending on Tet gifts for employees and staff during the Lunar New Year 2024 is equivalent to the level in 2023. Accordingly, trade union members and workers having difficult circumstances will receive care of 500,000 VND/person in cash. Party, State, and provincial leaders will visit, give New Year wishes and gifts to members and workers having particularly difficult circumstances, each gift worth 1.3 million VND/person. Particularly, programs "Trade Union Tet Market 2024" and "Trade Union Tet Journey - Spring 2024" of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will be announced in the coming days.
