Le Thanh Cung, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee cum Head of provincial Traffic Safety Committee, on July 2, presided over a conference to partially sum up the local activities to ensure traffic safety in the first half of 2014 and define orientations, tasks for the rest of the year at provincial Integrated Administration Center.
Since early this year, provincial Traffic Safety Committee, relevant agencies and localities have made efforts in realizing their entrusted tasks on traffic safety, especially they excelled at reducing 3 trafffic safety criteria on the number of traffic accidents, dead and injured people. There were 1,361 traffic accidents reported in the province in the first half of the year, killing 151 and injuring 1,655. In comparison with the same period of last year, it decreased by 21.1% in the number of cases, 17.4% for dead victims and 25.2% for injured victims.
At the conference, participating delegates contributed their ideas to further reducing 3 criteria on traffic safety in the coming time. Mr.Cung also spoke highly of the efforts by the local functional forces and localities in ensuring traffic safety in the first half of the year while requiring sectors, mass organizations and localities to better implement their task of ensuring traffic safety and strive to diminish 3 criteria on traffic safety for the rest of the year.
