Thu Dau Mot City: Construction of cultural life and environment in the urban area

Thu Dau Mot City is aiming for realization of “constructing and developing Vietnamese culture to satisfy the needs of sustainable nation development” under Resolution of the 9th Central Committee of CPV in the 11th tenure.

Thu Dau Mot City is aiming for realization of “constructing and developing Vietnamese culture to satisfy the needs of sustainable nation development” under Resolution of the 9^th Central Committee of CPV in the 11^th tenure.

The aims include the construction of healthy cultural environment to suit urbanization level and construction of culture within political system of quarters, agencies, units, enterprises, and families.

To inherit the achievements

Mrs. Nguyen Thu Cuc, Deputy Chair of Thu Dau Mot City People’s Committee assessed that after 15 years of the implementing the 5^th resolution of the 8^th tenure Central Committee of CPV on “constructing and developing Vietnamese culture of advancement and people’s characteristic enrichment”, majority of the public in the city have upheld the patriotism and self sustaining strength in mutual supports.

Particularly, the movement of “the whole public joining hands to construct cultural life” has seen practical outcomes meeting the norms proposed by local Party Committee and authorities in their annual resolutions and plans.
The titles of cultural families and quarters have been agreed upon by majority of the public.

By the end of 2013, the city has over 94% of cultural families, 68% of cultural quarters, and nearly 89% of cultural agencies and units. The achievements are attributed to the inheritance and promotion of the 9^th Resolution of the 11^th tenure Central Committee of CPV.

Plenty measures for implementation

Despite the socio-economic achievements, the outcomes of movements in Thu Dau Mot City have not been worthy and effective enough to spread and develop thoroughly developed people in healthy cultural environment.

It is of great concerns that the traditional values of families and villages have been degraded amongst other problems of cultural construction.

In the face of such situations, Mr. Pham Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of Thu Dau Mot City Party Committee informed that they have proposed specific targets to successfully implement Resolution No. 33-NQ-TW of the 9^th Congress of the 11^th tenure Central Committee of CPV regarding the “constructing and developing Vietnamese culture to satisfy the needs of sustainable nation development”.
