Helping the poor overcome difficulty
Nguyen Quoc Cang, chairman of the town Red Cross, said “the Red Cross has paid attention to social activities and upheld the charity tradition to local residents to help the poor”.

Typically, “Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims” program has been annually held in the town. In addition, the Red Cross has paid attention to building and repairing charity houses for the local poor to help them enjoy better accommodations. Over years, the Red Cross has granted 72 houses and repaired 9 charity houses worth VND970mil.
Implementing the movement of “Each organization, each individual attaches to a humanitarian address”, the Red Cross at all levels have mobilized 57 units, individuals to assist 1,125 poor people and students. Especially, the Red Cross has held humanitarian activities for the poor through gift visits to orphans, disabled people and agent orange victims…
A mainstay for the poor
According to Nguyen Quoc Cang, the Red Cross has cooperated with medical sector to offer health care for the poor through models of first aid, planting and using Vietnamese traditional medicine, gathering physicians and so on to cater for nearly 40,000 needy people.
In addition, the Red Cross has gathered 189 private medical stations, 13 healthcare locations, 53 medicine chests, 77 medicine bags to offer health exams and medicines for poor patients.
Through supports from donors, the Red Cross has offered free health exams and medicines for 11,407 needy residents.
With a motto of “Heading for grassroot levels”, the Red Cross has launched and expanded significant models and been a mainstay for the poor and been a bridge between the Party and people, between gold hearts and unlucky people. This contributes to excel social policies entrusted by the Party and State.
