In the past year, Thu Dau Mot University reaped many successes. In this academic year, the university constantly renovated training and effectively launched plans and tasks. The year of 2015 marks a new development when the university completed the first phase of setting up a multi-field university.
Right at the early-year meeting, the university rector Nguyen Van Hiep drastically steered to build and launch task for 2015 and suggested units grasp key tasks for the sake of synchronous and effective launching.
Manpower training for social demand
In 2015, Thu Dau Mot university leaders decided to create breakthroughs on manpower training with many measures of spurring training classes on manpower administration and university administration. In addition, the university has effectively launched the project of developing manpower till 2020 and vision to 2030 to launch synchronously measures of manpower development on the regional and international standards.
Accordingly, work on cadre training will be launched as the prepared roadmap. Specifically, functional parts should re-check lecturers to attend in the project of manpower training under the Ministry of Education and Training and prepare measure of qualified doctorate training.
Besides, the university will actively hold fostering classes on university administration for key cadres as well as training courses on English skills and teaching skills for lecturers to improve quality of management, training and scientific research.
Rector Nguyen Van Hiep stressed that the university leaders pay much attention to holding training and fostering classes designed on working positions to develop practical and professional skills of cadres.
The university plans to assign cadres to Singapore National University to survey developing model of the top Asian university. This is a breakthrough to map out policies and plans for improving training quality in conformity with developing requirements of Thu Dau Mot university and social demand.
Improving training quality on CDIO

In the last year, the university successfully launched the training model named CDIO that equips professional knowledge and trains skills for students. After one year, many faculties and majors successfully build standards, focusing on developing skills, encouraging students to study actively, improving virtue and capacity of students.
At the early-year meeting, the university leaders affirmed that application of CDIO model and advanced measures to develop training programs is a right way. The rector asked parts to rapidly complete graduation standards for students. At present, requirements of English, IT and soft skills have been applied into all majors.
Spurring scientific research
In 2015, the university operation of science and technology shows renovation remarkably. The university strategy of developing science and technology is oriented clearly by promoting basic research fields, spurring applied research to create science products for practice. The program of key science and technology to sustainably developing the Southeastern region has been effectively launched, meeting requirement and goal of the university.
In the coming time, the university will strengthen launching of research programs of Southeastern region, fields of social science and humanity, technical science and technology; focus on researching some science and technology products with high feasibility. Moreover, the university will continue to perfect material facilities and labs in service for science research. The university directorate plans to work with the Southeastern provinces and neighboring areas to launch plans on developing Southeastern science and technology.
