On Sept. 22, Thu Dau Mot University solemnly held the opening ceremony of the new school year of 2014-2015. Attending the opening ceremony were Mai The Trung, secretary of the provincial party committee, Le Thanh Cung, vice secretary of the provincial party committee cum chairman of the provincial party committee and numerous teacher and students of Thu Dau Mot University.
After 5 years of operation, Thu Dau Mot University has thus far become a multi-field university and a research and training center. At present, the university has had 28 training majors under fields of natural science, social science and humanity, pedagogy, economics, technology, environment and more with more than 16,000 students.
Annually, the university has 2,000 graduates enjoying proper jobs, especially pedagogical students highly appreciated by units. In the past admission exam, there were nearly 20,000 applications of examinees, 46% of whom were from Binh Duong province’s contestants. At present, the university has been allowed to teach 5 post-university training programs. Accordingly, the university in 2015 will admit students for master level of majors such as Business Administration, Accounting, History, English and Educational Management.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Le Thanh Cung, chairman of the provincial People’s Committee highly appreciated efforts done by the university workgroups and individuals. On behalf of the provincial party committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the provincial People’s Committee chairman hoped that the university continues to improve quality, efficiency of training and scientific research, focusing on high quality manpower training, meeting requirements of labor market and local socio-economic development and the Southern key economic zone.
Also the same day, the Eastern International University (EIU) held the opening ceremony of the 2014-2015 school year with the participation of Pham Van Canh, vice secretary of the provincial party committee, Vo Van Minh, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, reps of departments, agencies and numerous guests and teachers and students of EIU.
EIU invested by Becamex IDC started the first school year in 2011 with 7 training majors, of which business administration is taught in English. In addition, this is the first university in Vietnam applying 3 semesters per year like advanced universities of foreign nations. This is to meet demand on high quality human resources to cater for development of Binh Duong province in particular and the country in general. In the academic year of 2014-2015, EIU has nearly 3,000 students.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, Vo Van Minh, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee applauded EIU’s contributions to local education socialization. He also wished that EIU would promote advanced model of an international standard university to continue training high quality human resources and contributing to local socio-economic development.
