The past school year 2021-2022 was a hard year due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, causing students in the province in general and in Thuan An city in particular to temporarily stop going to school. With the motto "to temporarily stop going to school, but don't stop studying", education branch of Thuan An City made many efforts in disease prevention control, synchronously and seriously implemented measures of adaptive, safe and flexible face-to-face teaching for disease control; reviewed lessons for students to return to school, ensured the completion of the school year program, student safety, and gained good results in the implementation of objectives and tasks.
Overcoming difficulties, with the enthusiasm of teachers and the efforts of students, education quality of Thuan An City is always guaranteed. Huynh Thi My Ngan, Head of Education Training Office of Thuan An City, said that the good results in the past school year showed that most criteria were met and exceeded targets. Namely, the rate of 5th-grade students completing the primary school program reached 100%; senior high school graduation rate reached 97.94%; the rate of primary school students recruited into 6th grades reached 100%; high school graduation rate reached 100% (increase of 0.1%). In which, Trinh Hoai Duc High School and the city Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education were in the top 10 leading public and private schools and centers in the whole province; the city Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education also won first place in continuing education and won first place for 3 consecutive years.
The good teaching - learning quality is also proved by the number of excellent students at all levels in Thuan An city. Accordingly, in the past school year, the whole city had 111 excellent students at the provincial level (an increase of 2 students). Especially, the quality of prizes increased significantly, namely, there were 6 first prizes (increase of 3 prizes), 7 second prizes (increase of 2 prizes), 22 third prizes (increase of 6 prizes). In the last 10th-grade entrance exam, Thuan An city ranked second in the province.
Huynh Thi My Ngan said that in order to maintain and further promote the achieved results, the improvement of teaching and learning quality in this new school year 2022-2023 is always a matter of concern of Thuan An city education branch; more solutions in management as well as teaching organization will be implemented to maintain the study routine and discipline, implement education programs, improve the quality of excellent students, and lower the rate of weak students. "The whole education branch determine to have higher results in this new school year”, said Ngan.
To enter the new school year with confidence
A concern of education branch is the teaching staff in the new school year. The total number of administrators, teachers and staff of public schools in Thuan An city is 3,714 people. For the 2022-2023 school year, the branch needs to add more 760 people, of which the most are teachers (kindergartens need to add 107 teachers; primary schools need to add 224 teachers; junior high schools need to add 287 teachers).
To overcome the shortage of teachers, education branch coordinated with Home Affairs Office to advise the City People's Committee to organize the recruitment of 225 staff. At the moment, when new teachers have not yet recruited, schools assign teachers to increase teaching hours, and hold several positions at the same time in school to ensure the opening of the new school year according to regulations.
Although there are many difficulties, in order to meet the learning demand of local children and workers in the area, every year, Thuan An city pays attention and allocates funds for the renovation of schools and classrooms, build more spacious new schools. To prepare for this new school year, Thuan An City has repaired Binh Nham High School, with a total cost of more than 2.3 billion VND. In addition, 60 educational establishments in the area were repaired from regular funds at schools, with a total cost of about 3 billion VND. Also in this new school year, Thuan An city will put into use a number of newly built schools, such as: Hoa Mai 2 Kindergarten, Binh Chuan 2 Primary School, Vinh Phu High School; simultaneously established and put into operation Binh Chuan 3 High School (from the old facilities of Binh Chuan 2 High School). 100% of schools from preschool to high school in Thuan An city basically have enough classrooms to meet the demand of the new school year.
Assessing the preparation for the new school year 2022-2023, Huynh Thi My Ngan, said that the education branch of Thuan An city directed schools in the area to prepare all aspects quite thoughtfully. “Up to now, all schools have assigned teachers, prepared material facilities, and built a green - clean - beautiful and safe environment; At the same time, encourage students to get vaccinated against Covid-19 to protect their health... Despite many difficulties, all schools in the city are well prepared for the new school year. All are ready for the back-to-school work and the opening of the new school year in the city to take place in accordance with the direction of the superiors", Ngan said.
