Over the past five years, Thuan An district made a strong rebound in terms of infrastructure and trade-services, contributing to improving the lives of the local people. The district’s GDP per capital was about 45mln, taking the lead among other localities in the province and double compared to the province’s average GDP per capita.
Synchronous zoning and investment of infrastructure
Over the past five years, Thuan An district made impressive figures with the total GDP increasing by 20%, the GDP per capital reaching VND48mln. The district’s economic structure gained a shift in the right direction with the sharp growth of trade and services.
One of the most highlighted things made by Thuan An district over the past five year was the synchronous zoning and investment of infrastructure, contributing to promoting the local urban development. Particularly, the district spent more than VND1.34bln on infrastructure, up 34% compared to its resolution of the 9th Party congress.
Tran Thanh Liem, chairman of Thuan An district’s People’s Committee said that the district has so far fulfilled the comprehensive planning for urban development till 2010; the overall planning for socio-economic development till 2020 with a vision till 2030; the scheme to upgrade Thuan An into town and city of class IV. The district has also had 45 residential area projects with 1,030.5 ha in total, 8 of which have been completed. Once completed, they will contribute to changing the urban image of the district.
Trade-services on sharp growth
Along with infrastructure invested in a synchronous way, Thuan An district’s trade and services sector herein saw a sharp growth. The total sales of retail goods and services herein grew by 29.3%, which was an impressive figure amid the global economic crisis.
Noticeably, the trade and services sector created an equal development across the district. It saw a sharp growth in fields of real estate trading, post-telecommunications, insurance, banking, transport…, making a firm premise for the local urban development process.
