Over the past 5 years, the city’s functional sectors, the People's Committees of communes and wards organized many activities disseminating regulations on environmental protection among people from all strata, contributing to step by step raising their awareness of keeping environmental sanitation. The city also regularly carried out inspection and supervision over environmental protection, thereby promptly detecting and handling complaints on environmental pollution.
Since 2016, the city’s People's Committee has directed specialized agencies to make 900 inspection tours under the reflection of the local voters, press agencies and annual plans. Through the inspection tours, the city’s People's Committee issued 280 decisions on administrative punishment in environmental protection, with a total fine of more than VND12.8 billion. In addition, the city’s solid waste management has reached many positive changes with the rate of household solid waste collected and treated at 98%. Spontaneous waste points in the city have also reduced significantly.
