To actively protect workers' health

Before the situation that the COVID-19 epidemic has not subsided, and that the dengue fever epidemic has appeared and is tending to be complicated, worrying to protect workers' health, the grassroots trade unions in enterprises in the province have actively coordinated with enterprises to promote environmental sanitation and prevention of epidemics and strengthen the work of information and dissemination to raise awareness of disease prevention and control among workers.

To promote measures of preventing and controlling diseases

Talking to us, Ms. Dinh Thi Thoa, Chairwoman of the grassroots trade union of Tombow Vietnam Co. Ltd. in Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park 1, said that before the complicated developments of the epidemic, which is currently without any specific treatment for dengue fever and no vaccines. In the past time, to prevent and control epidemics and protect workers' health, the company's Trade Union has actively cooperated with the Student Safety and Hygiene Team and the company's departments to organize the inspection and cleaning of the environment around the company's campus periodically during the week, clearing the tree canopies, and removing the places with standing water.

Insecticides are sprayed around the company's campus and factory area periodically every Saturday afternoon at Primacy Vietnam Co. Ltd.

At the same time, the company's grassroots trade union promotes information and propaganda on disease prevention and control measures as recommended by the Ministry of Health like taking effective measures to prevent mosquito bites, sleeping in mosquito nets, killing mosquitoes, and vectors of dengue, etc. In particular, the company's Board of Directors also held meetings to grasp the epidemic situation twice a week to listen to production units, offices, and medical staff about the information on the situation of the COVID-19 epidemic, dengue and other diseases throughout the company to take timely preventive measures.

At Primacy Vietnam Co. Ltd. in My Phuoc Industrial Park 1, many measures to prevent and control dengue epidemic to protect workers' health and stabilize production and business activities are also being implemented. Mr. Tran Duc Hung, Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of Primacy Vietnam Co. Ltd. said that in order to proactively prevent and control dengue epidemic among workers, the company sprayed disinfectants and insecticides around the campus and the company's factory area periodically every Saturday afternoon. At the same time, the company organizes regular environmental cleaning, clears bushes, not letting puddles of water to remain to prevent larvae from multiplying and developing into mosquitoes to spread dengue fever. The company promotes propaganda to recommend workers to, at work as well as at home, wear long clothes, and sleep with mosquito nets to avoid mosquito bites causing the disease.

In particular, the company regularly reminds workers to strictly follow the recommendations of the Ministry of Health on measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic, dengue, smallpox etc. on bulletins and loudspeakers which is broadcast in the morning hours in the shift, during the shift meal and after the shift. These are considered effective solutions being applied thoroughly by the company to contribute to protecting the health of employees.

To raise awareness of disease prevention and control

According to the provincial Trade Union, in order to continue to raise awareness about the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic, dengue disease etc. among workers in the spirit of not being subjective and negligent, and to help workers proactively protect their own health, over the past time, the provincial Trade Union has focused on promoting the propaganda of disease prevention and control measures as recommended by the Ministry of Health among union members and employees.

Mr. Le Van Hieu, Chairman of Thuan An city Trade Union, said that they have directed the affiliated grassroots trade unions to actively coordinate with businesses to promote propaganda and strengthen the application of preventive measures to fight epidemics at work to protect workers' health. In particular, the units focused on propaganda on how to prevent and control the disease as recommended by the Ministry of Health particularly as how to prevent and control dengue. Employees need to clean up, create an airy space in the workplace, live from inside to around the house; do not let water stagnate, helping mosquito larvae develop by turning upside down old buckets, jars and bottles; clean and change water in flower vases, water bowls, etc. to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs and generating larvae. Employees can use mosquito sprays, incense sticks, sprays or lotions to repel mosquitoes, wear long-sleeved clothes, and sleep under a mosquito net even during the day to avoid mosquito bites. When the body has symptoms of continually high fever accompanied by headache, body aches, red blood clots, nausea etc., workers should go to medical facilities for diagnostic tests, treatment, absolutely not getting self-monitor and self-treat at home, which can make the disease progress to aggravation and serious health problems.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Chairman of the Trade Union of Ben Cat Industrial Parks, said that the current situation of the COVID-19 epidemic is not worried; the dengue epidemic is showing a worrying trend. In the spirit of not being subjective and negligent, the Trade Union of Ben Cat Industrial Parks keep on to direct and guide grass-roots to actively coordinate with employers in implementing prevention and control according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, preventive measures, and medical declaration according to regulations in the new situation to ensure the health of workers at the workplace.
