Phu An Bamboo Village (Ben Cat District) was established in 1999 on the scientific idea of Dr. Diep Thi My Hanh, a lecturer of the University of Natural Sciences in Ho Chi Minh City, Director: Rhône Alpes (France), People's Committee of Binh Duong Province, Pilat Natural Park (France) and Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Sciences. Phu An Bamboo and Botanical Garden Museum is home to about 1,500 bamboo bushes with more than 300 bamboo species, 17 species of bamboo, accounting for nearly 90% of bamboo in Vietnam.
