In the past years, ethnic communities in Dau Tieng district have, along with local development, been in tremendous and encouraging changes. The district’s synchronous and effective measures have transformed awareness and responsibility of the political system, building up firm trust of ethnic communities in the leadership of CPV and the State; thereon, the diversified cultural appearance of rich ethnic identities have been formed and sustained in the district.

Dau Tieng district authority sustains care for spiritual and material life development for local ethnic communities

From the care for material life

Currently, ethnic communities in Dau Tieng district are accounted for 0.7% of local population. Nguyen Van Binh, Deputy Chairman of Dau Tieng district People’s Committee informed that all-level Party committees and authority of the district have, through the years, determined that policies and ethnic care have always been the major tasks to gradually improve material and spiritual life and care for local ethnic communities. Currently, live hood of ethnic communities has been relatively stable. Economic activities of local ethnic people have been mainly on agricultural production plants like rubber trees, cassava, etc.

Besides, small household businesses in local communes and townships remain. Majority of them actually have land and houses for settlement and access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and medical insurance for quality life.

To help local ethnic people escape poverty and improve live hood by various resources, the district authority has invested to facilities, power supply, and schools. Up to date, 100% of district families are accessible to stable power grid and asphalted roads to every door. Kho Sanh, Deputy Chief Cleric of Minh Muslim Mosque at Minh Hoa commune, said: “Currently, 87 Champa families of 300 members are residing at Hoa Loc hamlet. By the time, local care has gradually making their lives stable. 100% of the families have been accessible to electricity and clean water. Roads to the center of local Champa village have been upgraded and expanded. Children at schooling ages have been to schools. Local live hood has been tremendously changed as 50% of families have been rated as good without poverty.”

Following the guidance of Kho Sanh, we found Si Ro's family at Hoa Loc hamlet. Previously, Si Ro's family was poor but they received support from Minh Hoa commune to borrow money for family economic development. Making use of the money, Si Ro invested in buying tools to follow his job as a mason; the rest of money he spent on chickens and ducks to raise in the garden. Si Ro said: “Thanks to local loans, so far, my family has escaped poverty, and our life has become more stable. I myself work as a mason, my wife stays at home to raise chickens and ducks to sell eggs. Currently, my family has fully purchased audio-visual equipment and transportation and my children are fully educated. My family is very thankful to the Party, the State and local authorities for always helping and taking care of the lives of ethnic minorities like us.” According to statistics, in the past 5 years, Dau Tieng district has financed and built 10 charitable houses for ethnic minority households at Minh Hoa and Minh Tan communes. In particular, local People's Committee also offers ethnic households preferential loans from the district Bank of Social Policies to buy vehicles and to take the Champa children regarding their schooling.

To spiritual support

Not only had they been supported to improve their material lives, the ethnic minorities in Dau Tieng district have also received spiritual care. Annually, the district coordinates with Department of Ethnic Minorities Office of Binh Duong provincial People's Committee to organize legal propaganda sessions for ethnic minorities and agricultural extension training; to organize tours of learning production experiences and grasping the wishes of the ethnic minorities. Currently, 100% of the district's communes and towns have been covered with television, internet access, and information provision, serving ethnic minorities to access science and technology as well as public services.

To meet the needs of entertainment and cultural enjoyment of the people and serve political tasks, People's Committee of Dau Tieng district also plans and invests into the construction of cultural and sport institutions at district and commune levels. The district and commune level cultural and sport institutions have performed well their political tasks and served the entertainment needs of the people and ethnic minorities. In addition, every year, Phu Giao district Division of Culture and Information organizes Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Day on April 19, offering mobile book bags to serve people, including students of ethnic minorities in 12 communes and towns. These events have enriched their spiritual life, contributing to the creation of a diverse cultural appearance imbued with the national identity of the district located in the northwest of the province.

Along with that, Dau Tieng district is also regularly implementing well policies towards reputable people among ethnic minorities. The district's activities of fostering knowledge and skills in legal propaganda and education for reputable people among ethnic minorities have been carried out regularly. Communes and hamlets always pay attention to visit and gifts to reputable people on holidays and Tet or when they are sick or in difficulty; to promptly and fully distribute publications and magazines that help the ethnic minorities raise awareness and  learn about production experience to rise up and to build better and better life.
