The project of 21st century Thu Dau Mot Town approved by Thu Dau Mot Town People’s Committee on November 01, 2007 is assigned to Tan Vu Minh Co. Ltd. under Decision No. 2599/QD-UBND at the site of 24.8 sq m in Zone 1 and 2 of Phu Cuong Ward, Thu Dau Mot Town. Up to date, the company has invested over VND 143.4 billion for site clearance, compensation,and infrastructure construction. By now, the site of 7,300 sq m (30% of the plan) is prepared for construction. The Company also informs that a re-settlement site is being built for families removed from the project site.

Addressing a survey of land use for re-settlement of households influenced by Thu Dau Mot Town project, Mr. Tran Thanh Liem – Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Deputy Chairman is delight for a perspective of no more slumdog in Thu Dau Mot Town.
“I, on behalf of provincial leaders, appraise Tan Vu Minh Company for slumdog removal. A new re-settlement is good but still the project is on a slow mood. I call for a boost by active measures to complete the project,” said Mr. Tran Thanh Liem - PPC Deputy Chairman. He stressed on keeping up with urbanization pace of Thu Dau Mot Town.
Responding to this, Mrs. Nguyen Thu Cuc - Phu Cuong People’s Committee Chairwoman, said that local authority is joining hands in convincing local people to move to re-settlement, giving room for the project. She claimed that site clearance and compensation have slowed the project down.
It is estimated that about 220 families remaining in place are in poverty. They are living in make-shift places. Thus, the re-settlement will help them much as explained by Mr. Nguye Hung Vu – Chairman of Tan Vu Minh Co. Ltd.
The Thu Dau Mot Town project is part of urbanization programs proposed by the 11th National Party Congress and the 9th Provincial Party Congress.
