To care for children having difficult circumstances

 Morning September 9, at Provincial Exhibition and Convention Center, the Provincial Sponsoring Council of Children's Protection Fund hosted a program "Mid-Autumn Festival and to award scholarships to students who overcome difficulties, disadvantaged children for the 21st time in 2022” and to summarize the 25 years of Children's Protection Fund in Binh Duong province.

Attending were Pham Van Chanh, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Van Loc, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of Provincial Party Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of Provincial Fatherland Front; Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of Commission of Popularization and Education; Nguyen Van Danh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

A warm and cozy Mid-Autumn Festival

In order to create a chance for disadvantaged children in the whole province to have fun on occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival, to encourage and praise good examples of overcoming difficulties and attaining excellent learning results, every year, the Provincial Sponsoring Council of Children's Protection Fund host the program "Mid-Autumn Festival and awards scholarships to outstanding students and children having difficult circumstances”.

At this year's program, 1,035 disadvantaged children in the province had an opportunity to enjoy musical performances of the program "Happy singing dancing under the moon" performed by little members of Young Performing Art Team of Binh Duong Radio and Television Station. Besides, children also understood more about benevolent hearts, from which they have more motivation to rise up in life.

At this program, 95 orphaned children due to the Covid-19 received long-term sponsorship with a total fund of more than 451 million VND. Provincial Sponsoring Council of Children's Protection Fund awarded 570 scholarships to students having good academic achievements, with a total expenditure of more than 301 million VND; 14 laptops and 42 bicycles to students who had excellent learning results in consecutive years. Besides, the Fund Sponsor Council also gave 1,035 Mid-Autumn Festival gifts to the children. The total fund for this program was more than 2.3 billion VND.

The above meaningful gifts were an encouragement and commendation to strong-willed students, who overcame difficulties to rise up and study well. The festival also received the attention of economic, social organizations and benefactors who contributed to taking care of disadvantaged children in the province.

Dedication, transparency, timeliness, joint effort

This year's Mid-Autumn Festival and scholarship awarding was also an occasion for the Sponsoring Council, the Provincial Children's Protection Foundation to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Over 25 years, the fund has been proving itself by good results of mobilizing resources from domestic and international organizations and individuals, together with the State budget, to implement targeted programs for children and assisting the realization of children's rights.

Nguyen Tan Trieu, Director of the Provincial Children's Protection Fund, said that over the past 25 years, the fund had received sharing and contributions with the spirit of "dedication, transparency, timeliness, joint effort". As a result, thousands of unfortunate children were supported in a timely manner to continue their schooling (8,300 scholarships); received free treatment and surgery for many diseases (surgeries of hearts, serious diseases, eyes, smiles for 2,000 children); received 166 laptops, 1,300 bicycles, 100,000 gifts on Tet holidays, 167 houses, nutrition support (8,000 turns of children supported by Vietnam Milk Fund); long-term support from the program "Every kind heart, one dream comes true" (319 children).

In particular, during the 2 years of the Covid-19 pandemic, Standing Committee of the Fund carried out a meaningful and fundamental program to help nearly 100 families of orphans because of Covid-19, that was the "Long-term sponsorship" program. Monthly supports offered by this program have timely helped the children stabilize their lives, continue going to school to nurture their dreams for a bright future. Up to now, society and benefactors have joined hands with the government to take care of nearly 100,000 turns of children having extremely difficult circumstances in the province with a total expenditure of VND 102 billion.

To recognize the contributions of Children's Protection Fund over the past 25 years, the Provincial People's Committee presented a banner to the fund as an unit with excellent achievements in the work to sponsor and taking care of disadvantaged children in 1997-2022 period. Provincial People's Committee also rewarded excellent collectives and individuals in child protection work.
