On 6 Aug, Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) held an online conference to summarize the school year 2018-2019 with the participation of 64 provinces and cities throughout the country. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and directed the conference. Binh Duong province had Tran Van Nam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly delegation; Tran Thanh Liem, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee; Dang Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee; leaders of provincial Department of Education and Training, and educational units in the province.

Many good achievements
According to Ministry of Education and Training’s report, in the school year 2018-2019, education and training sector continued to apply 9 major task groups and 5 fundamental solutions to implement programs and plans set out. The whole sector also continued to promote effective implementation of the Government's action program, Resolution No. 29 of the Central Party on fundamental and comprehensive innovation in Education and Training. As a result, after one year, the whole sector achieved many good results, 100% of students participating in Asian Olympic Games and International Olympics had all won prizes. The 2019 National High School Examination ensured an objective, safe, serious, and fair organization with over 94% contestants graduated high school.
Together with the whole country, in school year 2018- 2019, Binh Duong province’s Education and Training sector continued to invested strongly in school facilities and equipment. Schools at all levels have adequate equipment to serve educational activities, especially increasing the number of schools with advanced and modern teaching equipment. Teachers were fostered and actively implemented self-learning to meet the requirements of education innovation. As a result, the last school year was a successful year of provincial Education and Training sector, which was proved by results of the national high school exam 2019, Binh Duong was ranked the 3rd in terms of average point of exam subjects, particularly English’s average point was ranked 2nd in the whole country.
To enhance lifestyle and moral education
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam directed Education and Training sector in the new school year to strengthen education on morals, lifestyle, and personality for students. This activity needs to adhere to the slogans of this sector such as: Striving for good teaching - good learning, study manners first and then learn to read and write, all for dear students. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed, all together strengthened moral education for students. Moral education firstly starts from examples of teachers, being close to students, and from stories of daily life.
The Ministry of Education and Training also offered 9 task groups and 5 solution groups to be implemented in the 2019-2020 school year. Accordingly, Education and Training sector shall continue to focus on implementing fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training, and completing the conditions to apply new general textbooks and programs from 2020-2021 school year.
Based on directives of the ministry, provincial Department of Education and Training set out main tasks and solutions in accordance with the actual situation in the province. Nguyen Hong Sang, Director of Department of Education and Training, said that in this new school year, the sector needed to overcome problems, make a fundamental change in education and training issues concerning the society, public opinion; building a healthy, democratic, and disciplined educational environment; enhancing school security and safety; focusing on physical education and school healthcare; building school culture, giving moral education, lifestyle, life skill training for students.
In the 2019- 2020 school year, Education and Training sector will review, plan, and develop the education and training network in the province; improving the quality of teachers, continuing to review and reorganize the staff combined with ensuring the prescribed number of teachers for all levels in accordance with reviewing, arranging, and adjusting the system and size of schools and classes appropriately.
Along with improving the quality of education and training in general, the sector continues to improve the quality of teaching foreign languages, especially English at all level. According to Ms. Sang, Education and Training sector will apply a foreign language program according to the standards of output and profession issued by the Ministry of Education and Training; encouraging the teaching of other subjects in foreign languages and teaching foreign languages through various subjects... Besides, the sector is planning for improving professional knowledge and developing foreign language teachers to meet the requirements of the new general education program.
Other tasks that are also included in the new school year are to enhance the application of information technology in teaching, learning and education management; promote the autonomy and self-responsibility for education and training institutions; consolidating material facilities to ensure the quality of education and training activities; developing human resources, especially high-quality human resources. The sector will also evaluate the implementation results of the Gifted High School Developing Project in the period 2011-2020 and the project of building a new Hung Vuong Gifted High School in 2020.
