Over the years, social security work in Dau Tieng District has concerned governmental departments and branches. In addition to enhancing law and policy dissemination, creating funds to give loans to poor households, vocational training and job creation for rural workers received much attention. As a result, many households have escaped from poverty, have a better life.

Vocational training for rural workers
Dau Tieng District has effectively implemented the National Target Program on Poverty Reduction, the Prime Minister's Decision 1956/QD-TTg on vocational training for migrant workers, training programs, vocational training policies, job introduction suitable to migrant workers. Nguyen Cong Nhan, Head of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Office of Dau Tieng District, said: "The district focuses on occupations capable of creating jobs for workers and in accordance with the actual situation. Vocational training classes have brought good results and especially meaningful effects to poor households, near-poor households lacking production land and with limited production level. Thereby, helping workers in general, the poor in particular find jobs, increase income for themselves and their families. As a result, many households bettered themselves, became households with good incomes".
The district continues to expand the number of professions, heighten effectiveness of vocational training to intermediate and primary levels to meet the diverse needs of society. Vocational Training Center, Continuing Education Center of the district opened four intermediate accounting - applied informatics courses, two intermediate courses of cultivation, and one intermediate electric course for 338 students to partly meet the demand of local socio-economic development.
According to Mr. Nguyen, the district has very few migrant workers, mainly local workers. Local authority has many ways to find jobs and ensure that trainees get jobs. Every year, the office introduces workers to job transaction floors organized monthly by Provincial Employment Services Center, district job fairs, career days in communes and towns. Another form is to directly contact businesses in the area to find jobs for workers. As a result, 23,666 workers were introduced to employers, contributing to diminishing unemployment, raising incomes and improving people's lives.
To care for poor households and ethnic minorities
In addition to the attention of provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, over the years, departments and branches in the district have well implemented the regimes and policies for the poor. Poor and near-poor households were supported by timely and adequate regimes, contributing to improving living conditions and increasing access to basic social services; at the same time, poverty reduction was tied to economic development and ensuring social security and solving social problems; all resources were gathered for poverty reduction. The district supported electricity bill of poor households from 2016 to 2019, namely 2,143/8,763 poor households with total expense of over VND 1.2 billion, gave Tet gifts to 1,895 poor households with total amount of VND 2.7 billion.
Every year, the District People's Committee collaborate with provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to organize meetings and dialogues with poor households in some communes and towns in order to learn about their thoughts and aspirations; to propose practical poverty reduction measures; timely assess the situation of poverty reduction once a quarter in the district. Particularly, communes and towns monthly meet and noted the needs of poor and near-poor households in order to improve the effectiveness of poverty reduction programs in each area. Mr. Nguyen said: "In order for the poor to escape poverty sustainably, in addition to vocational training, the district's functional branches regularly learn about aspirations of poor households to find ways to help them. Before a poor household borrow loan, they must know what they borrow for, is it efficient or not, and we can promptly give advice and support. Taking care of poor students and policy people is also important".
To take care of ethnic minority people in the area, every year, the district collaborates with Provincial People's Committee to organize law dissemination sessions for ethnic minorities, agricultural promotion training, organize visits, learning about production experience (in 2014-2019 period, more than 2,000 ethnic minorities participated in these activities). The district also held meetings, visited ethnic Khmer people on occasion of Tet Chol Chnam Thmay; visited ethnic Cham people (Muslims) during Ramadan; visited and gave gifts to reputable people in ethnic minorities on national holidays, visited and gave gifts to elderly ethnic minorities on International Day of the Elderly. The district also supported and built 8 compassionate houses and 1 great solidarity house for 9 ethnic minority households in Minh Hoa and Minh Tan communes with a total expense of VND 489 million. Besides, the district also created favorable conditions for 1 ethnic minority household to borrow preferential loans from the district Social Policy Bank branch to buy a bus for picking up and dropping off Cham children to school...
Thanks to the attention and support, in recent years, the situation of social security and order in Dau Tieng District has been stable, living standards of workers have changed and been improved.
