To ensure the completion of urban development goals

Due to a creative application of Party, State’s guidelines into local actual situation, and the integration of mass movements and programs, task fulfillment to develop rural and urban infrastructure, the urban face of Binh Duong has changed significantly. This results has been an important motivation for the province to keep striving for becoming type I urban directly under the Central before 2020.

Rural urbanization

In the process of socio-economic development, the province has kept focusing on infrastructure construction to serve the industrial, urban development and new rural construction. Through many resources, like: construction contracts – business – BOT – budget – mobilization…, Binh Duong continued to upgrade rural road system and connect local traffic system with the southern key economic zone.

Many completed projects have contributed significantly to provincial socio-economic development, such as: Highway 13, My Phuoc - Tan Van route (phase 1), DT744, DT741, Thanh Hoi bridge, Phu Long bridge, Ong Co bridge… The province has now 7,421km of roads with density of 2,75km / km2; asphalt percentage of highways is 100%, of provincial roads is 99.6%, of district roads is 80.85%, of urban roads is 87.76%, of specialized roads is 51.82%.

A Thu Dau Mot City’s view from above

In the 2010- 2014, Party, government at all levels and the people, organizations, businesses were unanimous in implementing rural road, urban renovation, thus gaining many good results. During this period, the province completed 2,102 projects with a total length of 1,249km with a total investment of 1,530 billion, including VND211.79 billion contributed by the people. The quality of construction works was also gradually increased; the asphalt or concrete percentage was 47.6%. These have fostered socio-economic development of rural areas; strengthened the connection between rural and urban areas to strive for the common goal of new rural construction.

Tran Thanh Liem, Deputy Chairman of PPC, said every locality had their own creative practices, but the combination of rural road construction and urban renovation happened only in Binh Duong province. Due to this method, Binh Duong province is no longer a remote area.

Turning towards a civilized, modern urban area

The public transport development plan of Binh Duong till 2020 with a vision towards 2030 studied by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) stated: Transport is a breakthrough method for urban development; using modern public transport vehicles instead of private vehicles helps in saving people's money, reducing traffic accidents, and accelerating urban civilization. Accordingly, the province will constrain some public transport vehicles, such as: taxis; and develop new vehicles, like: waterway ports, stations… to take advantages of Saigon and Dong Nai River. Currently, urban rapid buses operated by Becamex Tokyu Company have received good responses from all people, due to its advantages, such as: safe, civilized, clean, affordable, on time…

With a synchronized traffic system, the province will soon construct a metro system from Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien, which will facilitate the development of urban areas in Binh Duong and surrounding provinces…

Another important task is to provide accommodation for entrepreneurs and foreign experts. Becamex TDC was assigned to develop an ideal living space in Binh Duong New City for businessmen and foreign experts. TDC Plaza, Dragon Hill villas, 20,000 apartments in residential areas appeared and have satisfied needs of the workforce here.

Doan Van Thuan, General Director of Becamex TDC, said due to rational policies of the province, supports from its parent company Becamex IDC, Binh Duong New City had many changes. High-end buildings, residential areas were almost full, service area is developing well, international educational facilities have attracted many students… Binh Duong will soon become a civilized, modern urban area in the near future.
