Department of Environment and Natural Resources is to organize a program to exchange wast for gifts. The two-day event of September 25 and October 2 will be opened in Thu Dau Mot Market on opposite site to Vinatex supermarket. The program is part of “Cleaning the world” 2011 mobilized worldwide.
Reusable bags appear everywhere
Ever since 2009, a movement to use reusable bags replacing nylon bags has been promoted in Binh Duong Province, starting by events in Thuan An where the growth rate of urbanization puts great pressure on environment protection. Nylon bags are common in categories of rubbish. As reported, nearly 97 million has been paid out in contracts with Minh Dan Company which helped to produce 13,000 reusable bags for Thuan An Town. Through time, more and more local people use those bags to contribute to environment protection because nylon bags are limited in use.
Meantime, Binh Duong Youth’s League members have engaged in making over 8,000 paper bags to distribute in markets. Deputy Secretary of the Youth League said that their humble actions are appreciated by local people.
To continue for community benefits
As far as the program of exchanging waste for gifts is concerned, organizer aims to call for use of reusable shopping bags to protect environment. Volunteer participants will guide people to classify recyclable waste. The gifts including 6,000 nicely designed bags, 300 Rejoice shampoo bottles, 600 bags of Tide detergent, 500 energy-saving compact lights, and 42,000 mini bags of Pantene shampoo are now ready to be exchanged for waste. The to-be-collected waste will be transported by BIWASE to Nam Binh Duong solid waste treatment complex to recycle.
