To guarantee the rights of workers on Lunar New Year 2021

On January 13th, Nguyen Hoang Thao, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Committee, Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, chaired a meeting to hear Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs' report on the situation and bonus regime of Lunar New Year 2021 of enterprises in the province.

In 2020, although enterprises were affected by Covid-19 pandemic, making production and business activities much difficult, most businesses tried to maintain bonus level of Lunar New Year 2021 to retain their workers after Tet.

According to report of the department, by 13 Jan 2021, the province had 2,109 enterprises sending reports to the department, including 1,368 enterprises planning for Tet's bonus and 741 enterprises having no plans for Tet's bonus. The highest bonus for Lunar New Year 2021 is VND 497 million (belonging to an individual who is manager of a foreign-invested enterprise). The average Tet bonus this year is VND 7.37 million; the lowest Tet bonus is VND 4.42 million.. In addition, in addition to the Tet bonus, there were some businesses that also gave additional gifts to employees.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen asked Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to continue collaborating with Management Board of provincial industrial parks, provincial Labor Federations and related branches to keep updating the situation of salaries and bonuses for Lunar New Year 2021; stabilize employment, labor relations at enterprises in the area. In particular, he asked relevant departments and units to pay attention to businesses struggling due to the impact of Covid-19, and enterprises often violate laws to take appropriate measures to ensure workers' rights during Lunar New Year 2021.
