To gulp back tears, mourn father at the front line against the pandemic

On the morning of July 30, while commanding quarantine checkpoints in Thuan An City, Colonel Bui Van Tan heard a news that his father had died of old age and contracted Covid-19 at Provincial General Hospital. Gulping back his tears of pain losing his father, Colonel Bui Van Tan was determined to continue his duty of assisting the prevention control of the Covid-19.

Previously, implementing the Decision of Commander of the 4th Army Corps on dispatching reinforcements to support Binh Duong province in the fight against the Covid-19, soldiers of the 71st Brigade were led by Lieutenant Colonel Bui Van Tan, Deputy Political Commissar of Brigade 71, was on duty of guaranteeing security at quarantine points and isolation areas in Thuan An city.

In the past few days, Binh Hoa ward of Thuan An city is where his family is living, has an epidemic outbreak, Colonel Bui Van Tan's father has tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 after a screening test and was transferred for treatment at Provincial General Hospital. Not long after that, Tan's wife was also found to be positive for SARS-CoV-2 and transferred for treatment at the 4th Military Medical Hospital.

In face of difficult family situation, Tan determined to join local forces to perform urgent tasks with the desire to soon repel the disease. Colonel Bui Van Tan choked: "I was really sad when I received the news that my father had passed away suddenly, and I am the eldest son in my family. In my heart, I wanted to see my father one last time, but because the urgent task and the outbreak was at its peak, I could only say goodbye to him from afar. I hope the pandemic can soon be repelled so that I can return to burn incense for my father's spirit."
