Summer is the time when bookstores start publishing textbooks for the new school year. In order to ensure the supply of enough textbooks, notebooks and school supplies for the academic year 2017-2018. This year, the province plans to stabilize the market with 164 outlets.
According to the stabilization plan, enterprises reduce selling price of textbooks, notebooks, and school supplies from 10% to 15% compared with market prices. Enterprises organize distribution system from province to district, town and city; Communes, wards and towns, focus on schools, bookstores and rubber farms in the province. Participants in this program include: Binh Duong Book and Educational Equipment Joint Stock Company, Binh Duong Culture and Trading Joint Stock Company, and Ho Chi Minh City Books Distribution Joint Stock Company (Fahasa). Total value of stabilized goods from April to the end of 30th Nov 2017 is over VND93.6 billion.
Entering the summer is also the peak time of the program to stabilize textbook market in the school year 2017-2018. Therefore, since May, all officials of Binh Duong Book and Educational Equipment Joint Stock Company have worked harder. Newly warehoused books have been promptly packaged to make delivery to schools. According to Nguyen Duc Duy, Deputy Director of the company, to stabilize the market in the school year 2017-2018, the company sent documents to schools to announce to all pupils, made register, then the company transferred textbooks to the schools. The company has imported 2,062,232 textbooks, 1,632,233 reference books and 51,524 notebooks.
The market stabilization program mainly serves primary, secondary and high school students. In order to increase efficiency when organizing mobile sales outlets, businesses collaborated with schools to organize sales during their summer activities, or reading events. Particularly, Binh Duong Book and Educational Equipment Joint Stock Company organized 118 outlets, which are agents and mobile selling events in some schools in remote areas of the province.
Binh Duong Culture and Trading Joint Stock Company also participates in the stabilization program with total value of VND21.5 billion, including 2 million textbooks, 250,000 reference books, 120,000 notebooks and school supplies. This year, the company organizes 20 mobile outlets in localities. Last weekend, we had the opportunity to follow the sales team come to Tan Dinh Primary School (North Tan Uyen). Regardless of the blazing sunshine of summer, many students and parents came to buy books and notebooks. Ms. Pham Thi Gai said she had 2 children going to school. She was busy tapping rubber latex, thus had not bought any books for children. Owing to this mobile selling activity, she bought all books with discounted prices for children.
Today, travelling from rural to urban is not as difficult as before, and the lives of people are improved, they have better conditions to care for children. However, the policy of stabilizing sales of goods for students has shown the attention of the Party and State to studying of pupils. Stabilization sales activities last until November, enabling parents to buy textbooks, notebooks and school supplies at reasonable prices.
