To proactively implement direct teaching ensuring safety in disease prevention control

On the morning of February 9, a delegation of the Ministry of Education and Training, led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc, examined direct teaching activities ensuring safety in the prevention control of the Covid-19 in Binh Duong. Nguyen Loc Ha, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, received and worked with the delegation.

To guarantee the "dual goal"

To evaluate Binh Duong's face-to-face teaching activities in the implementation of "safe adaptation, flexibility, and effectiveness in the prevention control of Covid-19", the delegation surveyed the actual teaching activities at three schools: Tran Quoc Toan Primary School, Hoa Cuc 9 Kindergarten of Thuan An City, and Chu Van An Junior High School (Thu Dau Mot City).

At Tran Quoc Toan High School, the rate of students who have went back to school is quite high, over 91%. According to the school management board, students learn directly, both parents and students are eager. Before the students went to school, the school informed parents and students about measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 in many forms. In addition, the school also created adequate facilities and safety conditions when students come to school such as cleaning up, disinfection, body temperature measurement, etc. The school also developed a treatment plan for F0s, life skills education, psychological and health counseling; Review knowledge for students in the first two weeks.

Deputy Minister of Education Training Nguyen Van Phuc and leaders of the province, Department of Education and Training met with students of Chu Van An Junior High School returning to school to learn directly.

At Hoa Cuc 9 Kindergarten, over 72% of children went to school. To ensure the safety of children, the school also developed plans and scenarios for teaching, testing, assessment, and school year plans to adapt to each pandemic situation. Huynh Thi My Ngan, Head of Education and Training Department of Thuan An City, reported to the delegation, up to now, over 40% of preschool children, 90% of primary school students, and 96% of junior high school students of the city have come back to school. Fortunately, since students returned to school after Tet, schools have not detected any cases of F0.

Visiting Chu Van An Junior High School, the delegation was also satisfied with the organization for students to learn directly. To welcome students back to school, the school developed a plan for disease prevention and control during direct teaching; ensured material facilities; carried out cleaning and disinfection of classrooms; dissemination of disease prevention control among students; have a teaching plan that combines lesson review for students… Currently, the school has over 99% of students going to school to  learn directly.

To actively organize face-to-face teaching

Nguyen Van Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, reported to the delegation on the province's direct teaching activities that based on developments of the Covid-19 in the localities, the department directed schools to actively develop teaching plans to adapt to the disease situation and reality at their units. Accordingly, localities organize direct learning for students in several stages. After the Lunar New Year holiday, all schools at all levels in the province held face-to-face teaching.

For the prevention and control of the Covid-19, education training branch instructed schools to develop regulations and criteria on ensuring safety for pandemic prevention and control at educational institutions and schools before students back to school, when students are at school, at the end of day school. Regarding vaccination, 99.99% of junior high school students, high school students, vocational training centers - continuing education centers of the province received two doses of Covid-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, Huynh Thanh Ha, Deputy Director of Department of Health, said that medical branch had collaborated with education training branch to organize Covid-19 vaccination for students aged 12-17. The Department developed plans for disease prevention and control in schools; quick test of Covid-19 for all students entering school after Tet, students with fever and cough are controlled daily; testing every 1-2 weeks, this is assigned to schools; instructions for handling F0 cases…

Department of Education and Training also directed schools to increase interaction, support, psychological counseling, and mental health care for students, especially those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic; organize youth activities in schools; strengthen cooperation between schools, families and society in educating students on morality, lifestyle, life skills, cultural behavior and sense of law observance; carry out psychological counseling activities; implement the contents and processes of social work in schools; reinforce, compensate and supplement students' knowledge after a long time of online learning. Also according to Department of Education and Training, since the province organized direct teaching, the number of teachers and F0 students detected at schools has been very small, almost none. F0 cases are mostly found at home.

At the meeting with the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc appreciated the province's efforts in implementing online teaching and learning via videos for 100% of students during the pandemic prevention control period. The province has also been proactive and soon implemented direct teaching activities. The Deputy Minister hoped that in the coming time, Binh Duong Education and Training branch would continue to develop the results achieved in the past time, continue to closely follow the direction of the Prime Minister, documents of the Ministry of Education and Training in order to well implement the "dual goal", which is complet the school year's tasks and ensure epidemic prevention and control at schools.
