Following the direction of Provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control on the implementation of social security packages supporting people affected by the Covid-19 in the province, some localities, where are implementing restriction order, quickly, drastically and promptly delivered food and necessities to residents.
Food delivery through the night
In seven wards that are implementing restriction order of Tan Uyen Town, on August 24, authorities in wards mobilized human resources to work through the night to divide goods into small packages to promptly deliver to households. In Tan Vinh Hiep ward, volunteers who are militia, veterans, and young people, busily prepared food bags, including fresh vegetables, meat, cooking oil..., to transport to residential areas.
Functional forces of Thuan An city provide essentials so that people stay safe at home to control the pandemic.
In Thai Hoa ward, the distribution of essential food was also carried out by the locality to promptly deliver to households in the night. Ha Xuan Duong, a worker at Thong Dung Footwear Company in Tan My quarter, said that his family also had bought food for reserve, but the pandemic has lasted for a long time, so it was used up. Now the province implements restriction order, but the locality distributed food to residents, so he felt released. “Receiving food, such as chicken, fish cans, fresh vegetables, fish sauce, instant noodles, etc. from the government, my family feel safe at home to control the outbreak. Hopefully the pandemic would soon pass so that everything would return to normal," Duong said.
The distribution of food to residents in totally locked wards of Tan Uyen Town was completed and ended at 3 a.m. on August 25.
In four wards Thuan Giao, An Phu, Binh Chuan, Binh Hoa of Thuan An city, the local authorities also provided enough food for people at home. Lam Thi Phuong Trinh, a native of Tra Vinh province, staying in Dong An 3 quarter, Binh Hoa ward, said that due to the impact of Covid-19, her husband and she had to temporarily stop their work. When the city implemented social distancing, they accepted not to return to their hometown to control the pandemic. “The longer the pandemic lasts, the more difficult it is for families, so my family agrees with and supports the local government's solutions to combat the pandemic. My family is also provided with food and necessities, I will strictly abide by the restriction order to stay where we are," Trinh said.
Don't let any people to suffer food shortage
Following the direction of Provincial People's Committee, localities implementing restriction order have developed and carried out plans to assure the timely and adequate supply of food for the people. In Tan Uyen Town, People's Committee of the town has issued a plan to urgently provide food to about 87,288 households, with more than 332,048 people. The total expense is about 250 billion VND funded by provincial and town budgets.
Tan Uyen town also received more than 2,490 tons of rice from the national reserve to support people facing difficulties due to the Covid-19. Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs Office coordinated with military forces, the Fatherland Front, mass organizations of the town and wards to take on the delivery task to doorsteps of residents, with a volume of 7.5kg of rice/person/15 day. Essential food packages were assigned to local military forces in collaboration with mass organizations assigned by People's Committees of wards, to distribute to each household according to a plan of three stages, 5 days/ time.
Nguyen Hong Nguyen, Vice Chairman of People's Committee of Tan Uyen Town, said that on August 22, People's Committee of Tan Uyen Town worked with food suppliers. The town's People's Committee regulated evenly the distribution of this amount of goods to seven wards and give priority to really needy households, who ran out of food. The distribution to remaining households will be carried out immediately after the suppliers deliver enough goods. The town's People's Committee directed communes and wards to increase propagation in many forms so that residents know about the plan and receive food, absolutely not letting any people suffer food shortage.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Thanh Tam, Chairman of Thuan An City People's Committee, said that People's Committee of the city and four wards mobilized human resources from departments, mass organizations to receive and deliver food and essentials to people in four restricted wards in a timely manner.
