To renovate and improve the quality of vocational training

Binh Duong is a province with a network of well-developed vocational training centers spreading all over the province, thus creating favorable conditions for the training and supply of human resources. In recent years, the province and vocational training institutions have implemented a number of measures to improve the quality and efficiency of vocational training, such as: investment in material facilities, training cooperation to meet requirements of the Revolutionary 4.0.

Investment for innovation

Binh Duong Vietnam – Korea College is one of five high-quality vocational colleges in vocational training cooperation program between Vietnam and Korea. The college was established with the objective to train and develop high-quality technical human resource to meet labor demands in Binh Duong industrial parks and surrounding regions. The college was invested with $6 million (approximately VND130 billion) by Korea's ODA to buy advanced equipment and machinery, renew curriculums. Majors funded by the project include: industrial electricity, industrial electronics, metal cutting, welding, mechatronics, and automotive technology. With modern facilities and workshops, the college has generated professional and skilled workers for society.

Vietnam-Singapore Vocational College also defines the investment in facilities to improve training quality to be their new direction to create qualified workers. This year, the college received an investment of VND10 billion to purchase new equipment. In addition, enterprises presented machines to students for technical practice. Principal Tran Hung Phong said that modern equipment served key majors, such as industrial electronics, mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, mechatronics... Students are able to practice on modern machine, thus will be proficient and self-confident after graduation. Besides, the college renewed their annual enrollment plan; organized seminars; enhanced the introduction of their image to students in and outside the province.

In addition to these two institutions, vocational training institutions in the province have developed vocational education and training to meet the labor demand of an industrial province and serve the Revolutionary 4.0.

Training associated with business

This is the goal of institutions to renovate, improving training quality in accordance with Targeted program on Vocational training – Employment and Labor Safety in the period of 2016-2020. In order for educational institutions to meet enterprises and to training directions, provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA) held many seminars. At the seminar, requirements of enterprises, training directions of educational institutions were discussed to have a new direction in learning and practicing. In addition, DOLISA called on enterprises to support scholarships and participate in training activities at schools in order to find out outstanding students for companies.

Besides DOLISA’s support, vocational training institutions have found their own way. For example, Dong An High-Tech College, one of the few institutions in the province successfully built close relationships with businesses to facilitate students' field trips and internships in Dong An IP and other IPs in the province. During internship period, most students were employed by enterprises as official workers with high salaries. The school also offers students and teachers access to other institutions to improve their teaching skills as well as practice through lectures. Southern College of Technology and Agriculture (Di An Town), for each major, the college cooperates with 3 or 4 enterprises to provide training and labor supply. In recent years, the college has been cooperating with businesses in and outside the province to provide students with the best possible internship environment. After the internship, businesses actively informed the school about each student's training results and provide recruitment information, so students have the opportunity to apply for the job.

Tran Dang Bong, Principal of Southern College of Technology and Agriculture, said: "The association of vocational training with the needs of businesses brings many benefits. Training quality has been improved, as companies created the best conditions for students to practice. As a result, they gradually became familiar with the modern production environment, high discipline, and owned professional skills. At the same time, enterprises were provided with skilled laborers, who can meet job requirements, thus contributing to improving production efficiency”.

In order to strengthen the linkage between vocational training institutions and businesses in vocational training activities to bring about "double benefits" for both sides, Pham Van Tuyen, Deputy Director of DOLISA, said that the department would soon advise the authorities to promulgate mechanisms and policies on training cooperation between vocational training establishments and enterprises. This would be beneficial for both businesses and laborers, because laborers would be more aware of their skill improvement and businesses would be more responsible towards laborer’s benefits. Mr. Tuyen also added that vocational training institutions also took the initiative from enrollment, introducing school images, sending teachers to further improve their qualifications, organize many seminars...
