Street vendors have been causing problems at school gates and rising risks of food hygiene, security, and traffic safety.
Street vendors have become more crowded at school gates, and in observation, the foods they offer are not hygiene enough but attractive to school students. Unsafe foods vary from beverage to stuff foods that the sellers fail to ensure hygiene processing.
Another risk is from toys that street vendors offer at front gates of preschools, elementary schools and high schools. Despite requirement of qualified stamp on toys, hazardous toys remain on sale out of control including rubber guns which may cause injuries. Besides, paint layers on toys are easily gone off and cause troubles to younger age students.
Beyond the risks brought about by food safety and toys hazard, traffic safe is another problem caused by street vendors. At rush hours, street vendors crowd up schools’ gates with all kinds of travelling vendors from foods to toys. They even occupy pavement and paths just to sell their goods to school students. Therefore, traffic is usually stuck in those areas.
“Everyday, traffic jam happens when I pick up my children at school. Police force and local security force have tried to settle but things come back as before,” said Mr. Tran Dang Hoc, a parent.
