To tighten up driver licensing
At recent inspection meeting of Provincial Legislation Board of People’s Council on management, testing and issuing driver license in the province with Department of Transportation, it was demanded that the driver licensing should be tightened up. Making report to the delegation, representative of the Department of Transportation informed that the department has been managing 3 centers of testing drivers and 14 centers for training them with a staff of 41 examinees. From January 2012 to the end of August 2013, Department of Transportation has organized 619 tests for 169,847 trainees, 119,243 of who have acquired driver licenses as newly issued, renewed or changed.Concluding the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Dung, Deputy Head of Provincial Legislation Board of People’s Council highly appreciated the efforts of Department of Transportation in managing, training, and testing drivers in a bid to mitigate potential risks and dangers regarding the the skill and ethics of vehicle driving. Accordingly, Department of Transportation needs to reform administrative procedures to prevent corruption and conduct frequent inspection and training courses for staffs of the centers.Reported by T.
