Every year, Mr. Nguyen Van Thuy, living in An Binh commune, is encouraged and given presents by the People's Committee of Phu Giao district. The value of the gifts, though small, is a great source of spiritual encouragement for him. Talking to us, he said: "My family is in hardship, the children are far away, every year the commune officials come to give gifts, visit and wish them good Tet, I am very happy". Perhaps the biggest joy this year for Mr. Thay is not the gift at the beginning of the year, but the donation from the people to build a house. At this year's New Year, Mr. Tay not only gets close and warm Tet gifts but also lives in a warm house of love, life will be happier.
Not only did Mr. Thay enjoy the joy at the end of the year, but families with difficult circumstances living alone without support, were also visited and given gifts by all levels, departments and unions of the district. Not facing difficult circumstances and living alone like Mr. Tay, Mr. Doan Tran Van Tan, living in Phuoc Sang commune, was pursued by poverty just because he had many children. He alone worked as a security guard at the company and couldnot support all 4 people, not to mention the fact that his children could be easily sick on weather changes. Seeing that his family's situation was difficult, the commune officials facilitated the family to borrow VND 20 million to do business and develop the family's economy. Confiding to us, he smiled and said: “Thanks to the loan, my family has gotten better. My wife cooks and sells food at home and takes care of the children in her free time. A day like that is also from VND 100,000 to 120,000 for our income.” Starting from a poor household, through poverty alleviation loans, Mr. Tan's family has now escaped poverty and is gradually getting better.
Going around a few alleys and asking a few people, we found the family of Mrs. Tran Thi Nam, living in Phuoc Vinh town. There is no noise of children and people going in and out like the family of Mr. Tay and Mr. Tan, but Mrs. Nam's house is very cozy just like its name of "House of Love". Mrs. Nam is now a lonely old person with no support, she lives on the allowance, but she is always happy or helps people. Mrs. Nam happily said that this year she has a decent house to celebrate Tet and her family is no longer poor and her life is improving day by day.
It is known that at present, the whole Phu Giao district still has 70 poor households under the poverty reduction policy and 263 poor households under the social protection policy. In addition to Tet gifts to support from the budget, Phu Giao district also mobilizes organizations and individuals inside and outside the locality to give gifts to poor and nearly-poor households to encourage them and help them rise up in life.
To support development
All the cases that we meet are poor people and families with extremely difficult circumstances, but they are always extended their arms by the authorities, mass organizations in the province and the social community. , creating favorable conditions to help you have a better life. People who lack business capital are facilitated to borrow capital. Those who lack science and technology are given technical guidance. Without housing, the People's Committees of provinces and districts coordinate with sectors and mass organizations to mobilize donations to build houses of compassion.
Showing a sense of responsibility for the community, in this year of 2021, the transaction office of the Social Policy Bank in Phu Giao district has facilitated 2,601 turns of poor, nearly-poor, and newly escaped poor households to borrow loans with a total amount of more than VND 102.3 billion. Also during this time, the Advocacy Committee for the Poor of the district and 12 communes and townships mobilized businesses and donors to support the construction and repair of 24 great solidarity houses for the poor with the total budget of more than VND 1.1 billion. Currently, the district is building 11 great solidarity houses for poor households with housing difficulties with a total cost of VND 880 million, supported by Binh Duong Lottery One Member Limited Company and the provincial Poor Fund. .
Mr. Bo Thanh Tung, Head of Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Phu Giao district, said: “Caring for the poor and disadvantaged people is one of the district's top goals. In 2021, despite the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, Phu Giao district has made efforts to overcome difficulties and organize many caring activities. In addition to the regimes and policies of the central and provincial governments, the poor, the district's social protection beneficiaries are interested in supporting all aspects of life. Phu Giao district strives that in 2022, the poverty rate in the whole district will decrease by 0.5% compared to the new provincial standard to limit the falling back into poverty.
