Provincial Department of Health has transferred 11,000 Molnupiravir antiviral tablets from Di An City Medical Center to Bau Bang District Medical Center and Phuong Chi General Hospital to implement a controlled treatment program.
Molnupiravir antiretroviral is a free medicine under a specially controlled pilot treatment program for Covid-19 patients treated at home. Based on results of the Molnupiravir clinical trial study the Covid-19 treatment, it significantly reduced the viral load and cleaned the virus after 5 days of treatment, contributing to reducing the rates of hospitalization and fatality. The medicine is used for F0 patients that have mild symptoms and is specially controlled.
A pack is used for 1 F0 patient in 5 days, consists of 40 tablets of Molnupiravir 200mg, taken twice a day, 800mg (4 tablets at a time). People infected with Covid-19 must have an RT-PCR or antigen rapid test with SARS-CoV-2 positive within 4 days and have mild symptoms to receive controlled pilot treatment. Patients with no signs of pneumonia or lack of oxygen, breathing rate lower than or equal to 20 times per minute, SpO2 greater than or equal to 96% when the patient breathes air. Patients between the ages of 18 and 65 can take the drug orally. The patient agrees and complies with the commitments on the intervention program.
In particular, patients participating in this program should be aware that there are no contraindications, such as: Hypersensitivity, contraindication any component of the drug or with any drugs of the same group; history of hepatitis B or C virus with cirrhosis, end-stage liver disease, hep cell carcinoma; history of acute pancreatitis within 3 months or history of chronic pancreatitis; acute kidney damage or severe renal failure or requiring hemodialysis; pregnant, breastfeeding women, people of reproductive age but unable to apply effective contraception within 100 days of discontinuation of the drug or who is using corticoids.
