Tourist landmarks and sites return to normal operations as pandemic protection and control measures are ensured

The Covid-19 epidemic continued to significantly affect tourism activities in the first months of 2021. Therefore, as soon as the epidemic has been basically controlled, a number of commercial activities and services have been released from lockdown. The tourism service businesses in the province have also restarted.

Disease prevention and control

On February 26, Binh Duong provincial People's Committee issued a document to direct the implementation of measures for Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control in the new situation. Accordingly, the province allows a number of commercial service establishments (including hotels, accommodation establishments, and restaurants), monuments, and tourist landscapes to be reopened. The local tourism business has also been restarted. Despite resuming operations, in order to prevent and control the epidemic, all establishments and tourist resorts in the area must take measures to ensure epidemic safety such as staff protection and temperature measurement for visitors and arrange adequate facilities and supplies to wash hands, disinfect and keep contact distance.

On February 27, Dai Nam tourist area was reopened. According to the representative of the tourist area, implementing the general direction on disease prevention and control, the tourist area is open to serve but measures to prevent epidemics for all staff and visitors have been observed. Huynh Kim Thanh, Deputy General Director of Dai Nam Joint Stock Company, in charge of the tourism area, said that after being allowed to operate again, Dai Nam resort also quickly prepared all aspects to open operations on the next day of the permission. Measures to prevent and control Covid-19 have been taken as recommended by the health sector. Before the visitors enter the resort they have their temperature checked. At all sites of attraction and resorts, pre-set hand sanitizers and hand-wash guidance are available for visitors to wash their hands before and after they participate the activities. They are also reminded to keep a distance to ensure safety against epidemic out-break.

Huynh Kim Thanh said: “We continue to make free entrance to the resort throughout 2021. Regarding ticket prices, the resort also offers separate sales for each service area for tourists to choose from (in the past, tickets were sold in a batch). We see this as one of the measures to stimulate tourism demand, as well as to partially support tourists to participate in local recreational activities.”

Not implementing promotions to stimulating tourism demand like some other units, but from the date of re-opening (February 28), Thuy Chau eco-tourism area at Binh Thang ward, Di An city fully implemented disease prevention and control measures under the direction of the province and Di An city. Nguyen Thien Di, Deputy Director of Thuy Chau Tourist Area, said that the epidemic is still complicated at present, so the resort has not run promotional programs. However, in order to ensure disease prevention and control according to regulations, after reopening operations, they have obliged to ensure conditions for Covid-19 prevention and control as prescribed. "All service staff must wear masks," said Di. “We also put medical sanitizing tables at the entrance and areas. We maintain checking the temperature for guests for reports to the health sector,” he added.

Efforts made for visitor attraction

Although it is not as exciting as before, the reopening of tourist resorts and tourist service establishments after a period of suspension to prevent Covid-19 epidemic has restarted the tourism market in the local area.

Along with the strict implementation of disease prevention and control measures, each establishment and business unit of tourism services has also deployed its own programs to attract tourists as one of the good signals that Binh Duong tourism has been up to the next steps after the days of "struggling" due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

Nguyen Minh Duc, Director of Binh Duong provincial Tourism Promotion Center and Deputy Chairman of Binh Duong provincial Tourism Association, said: “Currently, the tourism business establishments in the area have returned to operations. They also offer many stimulus programs to attract tourists and promote tourism development. Over the past time, businesses have strictly followed the instructions on the prevention and control of Covid-19 epidemic, but the epidemic has been so unpredictable, so we are always monitoring, propagating and reminding units, facilities, and business travel services to implement well measures of prevention and control in the new situations.”
