To set up sustainable and quality living environment for locals, Thu Dau Mot city authority focuses on renovation and beautification of current urban areas in line with development of new urban zones.

Synchronous infrastructure
The current urban renovation and beautification are attached to new urban development in 2016-2020 and have been focused on for strong transformation of urban architecture planning and landscape. Tran Si Nam, Deputy Chairman of Thu Dau Mot city People’s Committee informed that Thu Dau Mot is a center of the province and has been in the past years developed in a bid to service urban development.
In the city, coordination has been made in localities to promote investments into infrastructure and develop industrial parks and clusters to call for enterprises to join the fields of agriculture, high-tech agriculture, trade and services for local development, transition of economic patterns and labor resources by the trend of industrialization, trade, and services. Of the activities, the urban rennovation and beautification have been proactively implemented for moving and creating site clearance. Besides, various parks have been constructed to create urban spaces, meeting the demands for entertainment, physical training and improvement of local live hood that had gained enthusiastic responses.
Thu Dau Mot city authority has consulted with provincial authority to approve the planning for functional sections of 12 wards and add up traffic roads to connect Thuan An city along with detail planning for 14 commercial residential areas. As for infrastructure, the project on improving public traffic quality for internal and external connection by buses and high-quality buses and detail planning for local internal ports and water ports have been constructed. Concurrently, some major urban routes of the city have been expanded or newly constructed to improve inter-regional connectivity, contributing to the improvement of traffic and transportation competence.
Up to date, in Thu Dau Mot city, additionally 343 alleys have been asphalted with full lighting. The main urban routes have been improved by correction of pavements, manholes, water releasing system, power supplying and lighting. Along with investments into renovation of infrastructures, the city authority has also concentrated on direction for reestablishment of urban orders and effective movements of cultural and civilized urban lives to gain remarkable results of better and cleaner urban appearance.
Sustainable development
According to Tran Si Nam, the achievements have for the time been thanks to enhanced direction for departments and units of the province to guide and assist enterprises, units and local people to implement investment projects for infrastructure development and assistance for site clearance, resettlement and construction of traffic, power and water supply. Besides, the city authority has regularly reviewed investment progress and effectiveness of projects and schemes in the province, ensuring local suitability.
Despite productive results, the city authority still has difficulties and drawbacks in the process of new urban development. According to Tran Si Nam, the sectional adjustment for planning of 12 wards has been slow off the schedules. To match the urban development reality, the city authority has also proposed to provincial People’s Committee for sectional adjustment of some areas. The decided projects, especially those of urban beautification, have been relatively slow. Management of land, construction and urban orders have failed to follow the progress while site clearance and compensation for some projects have in stuck. Besides, the development of parks and urban green zones for the time have been partial without upgrade to meet the demands for type-1 urban demands
Getting over the mentioned situations, for the time to come, the city authority has promoted measures to remove obstacles during the process of new urban development. Thu Dau Mot general urban adjustment, 1/2000 planning, Thu Dau Mot urban architecture management, and investment resources have been implemented. The progress of investment procedures and major projects of current urban connectivity has been boosted for the development west and north-west wards. The routes along Saigon River have been continually promoted to boost economic and service development evenly among areas of the city. The progress of urban construction and development of Thu Dau Mot is to be promoted to construct in new, modern and civilized manners.
