Training course on Buddhist precepts opens

Early October 7, the Central Board of Sangha Affairs of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) coordinated with the Executive Board of provincial Buddhist Sangha to open the 2024 training course on Buddhist precepts for southern provinces and cities at the Buddhist Cultural Center - Hoi Khanh Pagoda in Thu Dau Mot city.

The event was attended by Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang, Supreme Patriarch of the VBS, along with other members from the Supreme Council, Executive Council of the VBS; Nguyen Loc Ha, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee and representatives from the Government Committee for Religious Affairs.

The training course will take place for three days from October 7 to 9, 2024, with nearly 400 delegates, including leaders of the VBS Executive Board from 34 southern provinces and cities. This important event aims at helping Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns from provinces and cities in the southern region better understand regulations of the sangha while enhancing their knowledge on Buddhist precepts. This will enable them to practice in accordance with the principles and spirit of Buddhism during their religious activities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Ha emphasized that along with efforts to promote socio-economic development, provincial Party committees and authorities at all levels have consistently respected and upheld policies ensuring the right to religious freedom for the people, promoting great national solidarity. Mr.Ha also emphasized the accompanying role of Buddhism throughout the construction and development history of Vietnam in general and of  Binh Duong province in particular while expressing his hope that the noble tradition of "protecting the nation and bringing peace to the people" within Buddhism will continue to be upheld and further developed by monks, nuns and Buddhist followers in the coming time.
