In order to proactively prevent acute respiratory infections caused by novel coronavirus (2019 nCoV), the province's transport sector has implemented measures to encourage passengers participating in traveling on vehicles to raising health protection awareness for ourselves and the community.

Many units actively take part in

Early morning on 2 Feb, Youth Union members of Department of Transportation were present at provincial bus station to distribute leaflets to people, passengers and drivers of buses and cars to raise people's awareness of the prevention of acute respiratory infections caused by nCoV virus. Accordingly, 1,000 medical masks and hundreds of leaflets were given to passengers and drivers.

Expressing his joy as receiving a mask and leaflets, Nguyen Ngoc Chau, living in Phu Cuong Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, said that thanks to following information on mass media, his family understood the dangers of this novel virus. “These days, walking on streets, we see everyone wearing a mask. When I arrived at the bus station, I saw everyone wearing masks, so I took the initiative to receive the mask before getting on the bus to go. This is a very practical action. Before this epidemic is over, I would always wear a mask when traveling on the road and buses", Mr. Chau said.

Le Minh Ky, Youth Union's Deputy Secretary of Department of Transportation, said that to carry out the communication on prevention and control of epidemics caused by nCoV virus, their Youth Union distributed 1,000 free masks to bus drivers and passengers at provincial bus station. This action contributed to improving the understanding of everyone to protect their health and the community.

Vu Quang Thanh, Director of Phuong Trinh Joint Stock Company, said that in the past few days, the company equipped all their employees, drivers with medical masks while serving passengers, and reminded drivers and staff to pay attention to cases showing disease symptoms to notify the station management board to encourage passengers go to medical centers, hospitals for inspection and prevention of epidemics. Meanwhile, according to Nguyen Trung Doan, Chairman of Directors Board of Phuc Gia Khang Joint Stock Company, due to the scarcity of disease prevention masks on the market, the price has increased by 2-3 times, but the company still buys medical masks for all bus drivers from Binh Duong to Dong Xoai (Binh Phuoc). In addition, the company also give free medical masks to passengers without a mask.

Strict implementation of solutions

According to Huynh Van Trong, Director of Provincial Bus Station, right after the Prime Minister announced the nCoV outbreak, the bus station intensified communication on loudspeakers at the station; at the same time, asked all staff to take measures of preventing diseases, protect their health as well as surrounding persons, especially at ticket counters.

Nguyen Chi Hieu, Deputy Director of Department of Transportation, said the department strictly implemented Directive No. 02/CT-BGTVT dated 29 Jan 2020 of Ministry of Transport on preventing and combating acute respiratory infections caused by novel coronavirus and directive of Provincial People's Committee. The department asked bus stations and transport business units in the area to intensify communication about prevention of acute respiratory infections caused by nCoV virus under the guidance of health authorities; increase the duration, the number of articles, recommended articles, give instructions to people on information system of the bus station so that people fully understand the risk and ways to prevent diseases, raise awareness of compliance with recommendations and measures of the authorities, contributing to limiting the spread of disease.

In addition, Department of Transport asked coach stations to clean inside and outside bus terminal areas to ensure environmental sanitation, keep clean common hygiene in the surrounding area, prevent dispersal of diseases. At the same time, the department required business households in the bus stations to strictly abide by the regulations on hygiene and food safety, keep the general hygiene in the area.
