Binh Duong lacquer has long been famous for its a centuries-old traditional craft. Local craftsmen have shifted from pearl, shell inlaid lacquer to eggshell inlaid lacquer.
From egg shell, local craftsmen create numerous egg shell inlaid lacquer products of tray, pot, handbag, bowl and son on. At present, egg shell inlaid lacquer industry in My Hao hamlet, Thu Dau Mot town has developed and placed jobs for hundreds of laborers.
With various techniques in combination with numerous colors of baked egg shell, local craftsmen have made up unique lacquer products.
Vo Thi Luu in the hamlet, said egg shell inlaid lacquer products have charmed local and outbound tourists and become unique keepsakes. Egg shell is baked by coal to create various colors to meet clients’ requirements.
To make an item more unique, local craftsmen use point of a knife to carve more lines and then they polish it by red or black paint.
