Infections of neisseria meningitidis have recently discovered dispersedly nationwide. In the face of this, local medical sector has demanded its related agencies to implement upper-hand measures to prevent the infection and warn the public of prevention by vaccination to protect their health.
Neisseria meningtidis is the cause and can be spread through breathe. The disease can lead to severe side effects and even death. In Vietnam, the infection can be all year round but surge in the fall, winter and spring. In 2015 and the beginning of 2016, infected cases have been discovered across Ho Chi Minh City, Son La, Hoa Binh, Gia Lai, Nam Dinh, and Lang Son. Fatal cases have been reported.

Medicine Doctor Huynh Thanh Ha, the Deputy Director of Department of Health informed of the command by Department of Prevention Medicine under Ministry of Health has been issued to intensify the prevention of neisseria meningitidis infection to be upper-handed in reactions while preventing dengue and Zika virus outspread. The Department has dispatched documents to its agencies, Dau Tieng Rubber Corporation General Hospital, and private clinics to focus on the prevention of neisseria meningitidis infection. The Department demanded its agencies to intensify surveillance to detect the infection and possibly new outbreaks to sample and implement thorough treatment to prevent the outspread. As for health examination and treatment units in the province, the Department has demanded for early diagnosis, quarantine, and treatment to prevent side effects and casualty. Meantime, it is required that the y should notify local precaution medical centers of the possible outbreaks. Concurrently, medicines, materials, chemicals, and assistive means should be ready for treatment of the outbreaks. Surveys should be made to detect infection in the community for timely report and warning to precaution medical centers or local medical centers for timely treatment.
To prevent the spread of neisseria meningitidis infection in the communities, the Department also demanded medical establishments to intensify communication and education of disease prevention. Inoculation is considered as the best prevention at the time against the acute infection disease. Medicine Doctor Huynh Thanh Ha advised that mouth masks should be equipped on contacting crowds and patients at the outbreaks. Frequent hygiene practice should be maintained for nose and throat. Hands should be washed regularly by soap. Besides, environment sanitation should be maintained to ensure ventilation at working places. On having signs of the disease including high fever, headache, nausea, and harden neck, the person in question should visit medical stations for timely examination and treatment. Inoculation should be carried out at medical centers.
