Vo Tuan Kiet in Phu My ward reaches success on model of breeding ornamental fish.
Facing rapid urbanization process and narrowness of agricultural land area, Thu Dau Mot city party committee and authority has focused on spurring urban agricultural structure. Under leadership of the city party committee, farmer families positively implement models of transferring plant and species structure, contributing to increase value of land usage and efficiency of agricultural production as well as improve income and stabilize local farmers’ life.
Transfer of plant and species structure
Phu My ward, Thu Dau ot city establishes many economic models of applying high technology, bringing efficiency for local people. Specifically, model of growing vegetable sprout, hydro-ponic vegetable, orchid with the total area of 23,000sqm.
As for orchid-growing model, local farmers annually reap hundreds of millions of dong. Especially, model of growing aganonerion is under strong development. At present, Phu My ward has the total area of 3.5ha of aganonerion, improving local farmers’ income.
Huynh Van Khai, the owner of Khai Yen vegetable sprout facility in quarter 6, Phu My ward said that since applying model of growing vegetable sprout, his family enjoys a stable life with the income of about VND500mil per year.
Le Thanh Men, vice secretary of Phu My ward party committee said that implementing the city party committee and authority’s instruction on agricultural structure transfer, local administration spurs mobilization to urge people to transfer plant and species structure, creating a sustainable development and focusing on using effectively land fund.
In addition, Phu My ward party committee steers its branches and mass bodies to promote their vanguard role in making up positive change of agricultural production field. Therefore, local residents’ income reached about VND46mil per capita per year in the last year.
High efficiency of economy
Tran Van Van, vice secretary of Chanh Nghia ward party committee revealed that carrying out Resolution No.26 on agriculture, farmer and rural area, the ward party committee mapped out a program of plant and species structure transfer on urban agriculture and sets up agricultural support fund for members. Moreover, the ward party committee petitioned local electricity sector to support electric price for farmers.
In addition, the ward farmer’s society opened vocational training classes for local farmers. As a result, many economic models have been developed effectively.
“Since applying model of breeding ornamental fish on the area of 400sqm, my family’s life is very stable. We enjoy profit of about VND1.5bil per year. This success is thanks to assistance on technique and breeding fish from local administration”, Vo Tuan Kiet, member of the quarter 9 farmer’s society in Phu My ward shared.
According to Nguyen Hoang Huynh, chairman of Chanh Nghia ward farmers’ society, many members have joined positively in models of breeding ornamental fish, planting orchid and ornamental trees and more. The ward now has 20 households participating in model of breeding ornamental fish.
Tran Van Van added that Chanh Nghia ward party committee will in the coming time continue to mobilize and orientate local people to build models of urban agriculture with high economic efficiency as well as hold surveys to learn about experiences. In addition, the ward administration will cooperate with functional agencies to open training classes to help farmers spur production and business.
With the mentioned efforts, Thu Dau Mot city party committee has created a hi-unity from local people, improving their income and developing local economy.
