Like previous years, the provincial Transport Department and relevant units map out plans to cater for passengers on Tet. Most of fixed routes are in well preparation of means to meet passengers’ demand on Tet.
The locality is home to 24 out of 28 industrial parks under operation, luring about 500,000 immigrant laborers. The number of immigrant laborers who will enjoy Tet in their homeland will account for over 50% of total local workforce. Dam Trong Cuong, vice director of the department said that the unit would ask coach stations to boost their services in a bid to actively cater for workers at industrial parks. As planned, the department allows coach stations to sell tickets and pick up passengers at residential areas and IPs.

Up to now, the province has 96 routes to northern and Southwestern provinces with the operation of 548 coaches across 5 local coach stations. Of these, routes to the Northern and central provinces have 174 coaches operational per day, carrying 7,800 passengers whilst routes to the Southwestern provinces carry 10,400 passengers per day.
Pham Van Son, director of Binh Duong Coach Station said that the local people’s demand on transport will surge about 50-100% in this year’s Tet. The local coach stations will assure a sufficient number of routes for travel during the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday. To meet the skyrocketing demand during these days, tens of buses had been added.
Regarding prices of coach tickets on Tet, Son said that transport units proposed to increase additional fees on ticket price up to 40% for Northern and central routes departing from lunar Dec.20-24. The remaining fixed routes were also proposed to surge 60% of additional fees. The reason of the additional fee increase lies in cost of transport.
Son added the local coach station sets up 9 ticket agents to serve for passengers at IPs and residential areas.
To ensure passenger transport during Tet, plans of serving for passengers are in well preparations. Nguyen Van Giang, head of provincial Traffic Inspection said on the peak days of Tet, traffic inspectors in cooperation with traffic policemen will conduct inspections to find out violations of traffic safety. The local coach stations in cooperation with functional forces to set out concerted plans for the sake of order security before, during and after Tet.
