VGCL surveys "Better Jobs" program in enterprises

On the morning of November 13, a delegation from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL), led by Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the VGCL, visited two enterprises in Tan Uyen City to assess the implementation of the "Better Jobs" program. The delegation evaluated the process of activities associated with the program at Poong In Vina Co., Ltd. in Uyen Hung Ward and Hung Kiu Vietnam Garment Co., Ltd. in Phu Chanh Ward.

There are two businesses in the garment industry, each employing over 1,000 people. Both enterprises are participants in the "Better Jobs" program created by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). This program has been implemented in enterprises in Vietnam since 2009.

The average income of workers at Hung Kiu Vietnam Garment Co., Ltd. is 14 million VND/person/month.

The delegation surveyed the activities of enterprises participating in the above program, in order to ensure the rights and improve working conditions for union members and employees.

* On the same afternoon, the VGCL delegation also had a meeting with Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee and provincial departments and branches. Nguyen Loc Ha, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, received and worked with the delegation.

At the meeting, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu said that the survey on the implementation of the Better Jobs program in localities aims to closely evaluate the implementation process in recent years as a basis for orienting the program more appropriately and effectively in the coming time.

Overall, the assessment indicates that enterprises involved in the program have shown good compliance with relevant legal regulations, safeguarding employee rights and contributing to the stabilization of labor relations in the workplace.

In Binh Duong province, the program has been operating since 2009 and is being implemented in 54 factories with more than 72,000 workers.
