Vietcombank – Binh Duong Bank spread hands to Truong Son

Following the steps of staffs of Vietcombank – Binh Duong Branch in a charity trip to help war veterans with charity houses. In talking to people who have once sacrificed for the revolutionary cause, we get to know them who made history.

In resistance war against US army, approximately 300 thousand youths joined in voluntary movements to bring about victory from the battlefield of Southern Vietnam. Getting to Hamlet No. 3 of Minh Thang Village, Chon Thanh District, Binh Phuoc Province, we met veteran Tran Thi Lien of C7N500P18 unit and heard her stories of the war years. At her 53, she recalled the worst day of July 24, 1968 when 10 voluntary girls were killed by bomb in Dong Loc, Ha Tinh Province.

“It was a mental pain and I still remember them, those who have fallen,” she said in holding back tears, “my only wish now is to return to the place to offer incense to their spirits”.

On visiting home of veteran Nguyen Thi Bon in Long Binh Hamlet, Tan Quan Village, Hon Quan District, Binh Phuoc Province, it rained out of a sudden. But we had chance to listen to her story in summer of 1972 when she escaped from a close death raid of the enemy.

After national reunion day, despite difficulties, the Party and State offer gratitude policies to martyrs and revolutionists. The program “Truong Son gratitude” launched by Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper to call for donation of organizations and unions.

Vietcombank – Binh Duong Branch has save VND 40 billion to sponsor the program which helps to construct 600 houses and awarding 1,000 scholarship packages to children of veterans.

Currently VND 1.5 billion has been paid out and 100 scholarships awarded.

Chairman of Veteran Association in Chon Thanh District, Binh Phuoc Province Nguyen Viet Tuyen informed that about 146 veterans are supported by the program in Chon Thanh District. Up to date, poverty among those people has decreased.

Although the supports are very little comparing to reality, staffs and leaders of Vietcombank – Binh Duong Branch sponsored the program to uphold ideology of gratitude to those who once sacrificed for the nation.
