Vietnam aims to win at least 70 gold medals at 2013 SEA Games

On Nov. 19 at Phu Tho sporting hall in HCMC, Vietnamese sports delegation’s leaders held a meeting to introduce competition campaign at SEA Games 27.   Athlete Vu Minh (right, the world champion) is the gold hope of Vietnamese sports delegation for Pencak silat at SEA Games 27.

In the recent 3 SEA Games events, Vietnamese sports delegation showed its position and led in top 3 of delegations winning medals.

At the SEA Games 27 in this early December, with thorough preparation, Vietnamese sports delegation believes in wining more than 70 gold medals, protecting successfully top 3 position in the final ranking list. According to common assessment, the above goal is suitable to the delegation’s capacity.

Up to now, the delegation’s preparatory work for SEA Games 27 has been completed. As planned, Vietnamese sports delegation will join in SEA Games 27 with the expected force of more than 750 people, competing in 29 out of 33 sports and being divided into 4 groups.

Group 1 includes track-and-field and swimming. These are the “gold mine” of Vietnam and the number of gold medals from these sports will determine the final ranking of Vietnam. 

Group 2 consists of 10 sports including taekwondo, judo, wrestling, karate, wushu, Pencak Silat, Muay, Kempo, Vovinam and boxing.

Group 3 includes shooting, rowing, canoeing, weightlifting, body-building, billiard & snookers, pentanque, chess, sepak takraw and cycling.

Group 4 includes football, futsal, volleyball, table-tennis, badminton, gold and hockey.

Among these sports, Binh Duong sports delegation sends 10 athletes to compete in sports including cycling, body-building, karatedo, muay and billards & snooker.

Also the same day, Vietnamese sports delegation also held the farewell ceremony.
