Vietnam logs additional 3,698 new COVID-19 cases

Vietnam recorded 3,698 new COVID-19 infections, including one imported cases, in the past 13 hours to 7pm on July 28, the Ministry of Health has announced.

The new infections brought the number of COVID-19 cases detected in the past 24 hours to 6,559, including four imported.

Ho Chi Minh City, the current largest pandemic hotspot of the country, logged most of the cases, with 4,449 infections.

The remainders were found in Binh Duong (631), Dong Nai (271), Dong Thap (244), Khanh Hoa (147), Tay Ninh (120), Tra Vinh (92), Ben Tre (84), Hanoi (74), Can Tho (71), Phu Yen (64), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (56), Da Nang (50), Binh Thuan (32), Tien Giang (30), Ninh Thuan (25), An Giang (24), Dak Lak (13), Soc Trang (12), Vinh Phuc (12), Quang Nam (11), Hai Duong (6), Hau Giang (6), Thai Nguyen (5), Gia Lai (4), Ninh Binh (4), Ha Giang (3), Binh Phuoc (3), Binh Dinh (2), Thua Thien-Hue (2), Ha Tinh (2), Ca Mau (2) Dak Nong (1), Quang Ngai (1), Quang Tri (1), and Thanh Hoa (1).

By the afternoon of July 28, Vietnam had logged 118,612 domestic COVID-19 and 2,207 imported cases. The number of locally-transmitted infections since the fourth wave of outbreaks hit the country on April 27 amounted to 117,042.

As many as 4,511 patients were given the all-clear from coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 on July 28, raising the total number of recoveries so far to 27,457.

The Treatment Subcommittee of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said 106 patients died of the disease from July 19-26, including 91 fatalities in HCM City, lifting the country’s death toll to 630.

More than 5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had ministered. Over 450,000 people have fully got two shots.

By 5pm on July 28, Vietnam’s vaccine fund had received 8,345 billion VND (around 362.55 million USD) contributed by 488,906 organisations and individuals./.
