On December 23, the 8th Congress of the Vietnamese Red Cross in Binh Duong province of 2021-2026 took place successfully. Attending the congress was Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Head of the provincial National Assembly Delegation, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thao, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, Mr. Pham Van Chanh, Standing Member of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Council, Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, Standing Member, Head of the provincial Committee for Mass Mobilization, Chairman of the provincial Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front, Mr. Vu Thanh Luu, Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Red Cross and 210 official delegates representing more than 139,000 officers, members and volunteers in the province.
In the past term, the provincial Red Cross has promoted its core role in humanitarian activities to actively and proactively carry out the objectives and tasks set out by the Resolution of the 7th Congress. The total value of social work, disaster prevention and response and health care carried out in the last term was VND 775.4 billion to help more than 3.8 million people in difficult circumstances. Speaking at the congress, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thao highly appreciated and praised the efforts in humanitarian activities over the past time. Associations at all levels in the province continued to promote the achievements and made more efforts to well perform humanitarian work with many practical and effective programs contributing to ensuring social security and taking care of people's lives. The congress elected 36 delegates to the the 8th Executive Committee of 2021-2026; Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Trinh was re-elected Chairwoman of the provincial Red Cross of the 8th term; the congress elected 8 official delegates and 2 alternate delegates to attend the 11th National Congress of Vietnamese Red Cross in 2022-2027.
On the occasion, the provincial Party Committee awarded the congress a banner with the content of "Solidarity - Creativity - Development for the cause of humanity". The government presented the emulation flag to the provincial Red Cross for successfully completing its work tasks leading the province's patriotic emulation movements in 2020; the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Red Cross awarded the medal "for the cause of humanity" to 8 individuals and awarded certificates of merit to 29 collectives and individuals; the provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 10 individuals.
