On March 3, Office of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, Women's Union of North Tan Uyen district, in collaboration with Provincial Women's Union and Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, organized a delegation to visit and give gifts to women contaminated with Agent Orange in North Tan Uyen district on occasion of International Women's Day March 8.
The delegation visited and gave gifts to two families having women infected with Agent Orange, including: Le Thi Ngoc Loan (50 years old in Hamlet 5, Thuong Tan Commune) and Pham Thi Ban (68 years old in My Duc Hamlet, Binh My Commune). Loan was infected with toxic chemicals from a young age, she was a child of a revolutionary family working in the southern battlefield, her grandmother was a Vietnamese heroic mother, her father was a wounded soldier, her mother was a sick soldier, and her aunt was a martyr. Currently, Loan lives with her 72-year-old mother who is no longer able to work, she depends on her mother and sister's allowances. Pham Thi Ban, a resistance activist who was infected with toxic chemicals, is currently living with her son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren, her family circumstance is difficult.
The delegation gave each family a gift. Provincial and District Women's Union gave 2 gifts worth 400,000 VND each, the District Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs Office donated 200,000 VND, and Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange presented 2 million VND in cash.
