Vocational training attached to enterprises

In recent years, vocational institutions cooperating with enterprises for vocational training is one of the breakthrough solutions to improve the quality of vocational training in the period 2018-2020.

Vocational training attached to business needs

Pham Van Tuyen, Deputy Director of Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA), said that MOLISA identified the year 2018 as the year of reform and making transformation in vocational training. In particular, breakthrough solutions developed by General Department of Vocational Training include: granting autonomy to vocational establishments; output and teaching force standardization; training associated with enterprises. In recent years, vocational institutions in the province have been linking vocational training with the needs of enterprises and constantly paid attention to the renewal of vocational training, to have technical human resources supplied to labor market in the context of Industry 4.0.

Students of Vietnam-Singapore Vocational College assembly a refrigeration system for Binh Minh En Mechanical Electrical Refrigeration Company’s factory.

Vietnam-Singapore Vocational College considered the relationship between enterprises and the college as one of key and meaningful tasks to their development. In the academic year 2016 - 2017, faculties of the college provided training on mechanical and electrical training for two companies: Vietnam Brewery, Tan Minh Giang Company in order to improve worker’s skills. The college also introduced more than 300 students in fields of electrical industry, metal cutting, equipment maintenance, to companies for internship, such as Di Hung International Company, Scancom Company, Dat Phan Company, Thai Duong Khang Company... help students to approach the real working environment and practice working style.

With the orientation of vocational training associated with the practical needs of enterprises and ensure employment for students, in recent years, Binh Duong Vietnam-Korea College has applied training programs focusing on professional skills, cooperated closely with enterprises to catch up the labor demand of enterprises. Based on this orientation, their training programs were developed with 70% time of practicing, so that graduates are able to do well their trained job. In 2018, the college signed a cooperation training agreement on automobile, industrial electricity, metal cutting, welding, mechatronics, computer network management, refrigeration... to supply human resources to companies such as Subaru Vietnam Company, Di Hung International Company, Vietnam Technology and Communications Corporation... In addition, the college also has cooperative ties with more than 50 enterprises inside and outside the province. By strengthening cooperation with businesses, students of the school have the opportunity to study, practice with real equipment - technology, solve jobs for graduates, help teaching staff update new technologies, knowledge to serve the teaching process.

To promote and improve training quality to meet social needs, combining training with reality, Dong An Technology College is also considered one of the vocational institutions attaching training to enterprises. In August, the college signed a cooperation agreement with Homecare Real Estate Management Service Company. The two parties committed to providing a training program that has full theoretical knowledge and practical skills to create a qualified human resource would become managers with expertise in asset management and real estate. In order to prepare employment opportunities for tourism faculty, Dong An Technology College contacted many recruitment partners, including Song Be golf course. From the beginning of 2017, the two sides have started cooperative training and supplying human resources, from supporting for trainees to providing part-time jobs for students in the hospitality industry. As the relationship grew well, both sides agreed to increase the level of cooperation to a new strategic partnership.

Changing the content and form of training

According to a forecast of DOLISA, every year Binh Duong would need more than 50,000 trained workers. This showed that the general trend of social development requires more skilled workers to meet requirements of Industry 4.0. In recent years, vocational training establishments have had many forms of cooperation with enterprises in training such as: scholarships of enterprises for vocational students; training contract with enterprises for workers; introducing students to enterprises for internship; students, teachers visit and learn about businesses; cooperate to set up targets, training plans; to participate in setting up training programs...

On the other hand, there were still some constraints, such as: mechanisms and policies were still in set-up phase; steering and guiding for a number of tasks were not timely; legal framework on responsibilities and rights of enterprises in vocational training in Law on Vocational Training has not yet been applied into practice; lack of remedies in recruiting, employing workers through vocational training. To enterprises, the number and quality of connections between enterprises and vocational establishments is limited, because some enterprises have not updated information on mechanisms, policies and benefits when participating in vocational training. Cooperation between vocational establishments and enterprises to organize trainings for teachers for scientific updates, operating proficiency of machinery and equipment did not implemented…

The cooperation for vocational training between vocational establishments and businesses are being focused. This is not only beneficial for enterprises but also effective to training institutions, because enterprises would recruit right workers, students would have jobs after graduation.
