Demand is satisfied but…
Assessing work on vocational training, contributing to improve quality of manpower from now till 2015, Nguyen Phung Trung, vice director of the provincial department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that after implementing the project of ensuring skilled manpower source for the 2011-2015 period, the entire province has so far had 64% of trained laborers, 44% of whom joined in vocational training classes.
Trung explained, vocational training has greatly contributed to development of human resources, serving for labor demand for businesses. However, skills in industrial labor remain limited.
Though Binh Duong province-based vocational training schools have been developed widely, businesses’ real demand on skilled labor source has yet to be satisfied. Vocational training schools, including universities have yet to train manpower in according to businesses’ demand.
The rule of supply and demand in vocational training has yet to be matched and vocational training and labor demand remain many shortcomings.
Trung added that aside from the above reasons, another reason is that vocational training has yet to have a trademark and career consultancy for pupils and students remains limited. In addition, universities and colleges and intermediate schools only admit students for some majors that do not require high standards of material facilities such as accountancy, office secretary, business administration and many more.
Many bridges for laborers and businesses
To diversify vocational training work, Binh Duong has built many important channels, creating bridges for laborers and businesses. Therefore, job transaction floors co-held by the provincial Job Center, vocational training schools, universities, colleges have brought many successes for job-seekers.
Through 78 job fairs, the center has lured the participation of many businesses and laborers. Specifically, at the 78th job fair held on Oct. 13, 2013, as many as 112 job-seekers registered jobs at the fair.
Nguyen Thi Bach Cuc, vice director of the provincial Job Center said that at the job fair businesses needed to recruit over 7,000 people, 2,800 of whom are skilled ones with trades such as transport, mechanics, woodwork, construction, insurance, electronics, telecommunication, apparel, footwear, security, porcelain, food processing, real estate business and many more.
Since the start of this year, the center has held vocational training classes for 1,143 learners, 382 of whom joined in classes on cooking, computer and motorbike repair, mushroom planting, make-up and so on and has simultaneously introduced jobs for 23,115 laborers inside and outside of the province.
Additionally, local vocational training facilities in cooperation with businesses have held probation courses for learners in a bid to help them improve skills.
By many efforts, Binh Duong has strived to reach 70% of trained laborers. According to Trung, one of important measures is that the provincial administration will set out a policy to lure students of vocational training schools and hi-tech laborers at businesses to be teachers of local vocational training workshops and to offer career consultancies for students of high schools. The most important is that dissemination on the Party and State’s instructions and policies should be spurred and quality of vocational training should be accelerated. As such, Binh Duong will surely gain goals of vocational training. At that time, vocational training will attach to demand of laborers and companies.
