Blood donation is a noble deed with profound human significance. Over the past time, Binh Duong actively promoted the voluntary blood donation campaign and received enthusiastic response from people from all strata. Drops of blood from donors not only contributed to well serving medical emergency and treatment at the local health facilities, but also brought joy and happiness to many people being in danger.

Outstanding blood donors in 2014 honored
According to Tran Thi Lien, Chairman of provincial Red Cross Society, there are now only 0.84% of the province’s total population taking part in the voluntary blood donation campaign. Active coordination from authorities at all levels, mass organizations and localities is needed to promote the campaign among people from all strata. The province also needs to pay more attention to honoring voluntary blood donors. From this significance, the theme of this year’s World Blood Donor Day is “Thank you for saving my life” to express a great value of donating blood to save lives.
The whole province last year organized 69 voluntary blood donation stages and received 14,508 units of blood or 100% of the yearly target. This year, the province has been apportioned a target of receiving 16,000 units of blood. This is a great target, so it requires the efforts by steering boards, officials of Red Cross Societies at all levels together with active response from people from all strata. The whole province as of late May 2015 received 8,134 units of blood or 50.1% of the yearly plan. On the days of early June, many units in the province, including Vietnamese-German University in TDM city and Di An town, also continued organizing voluntary blood donation stages with 274 units of blood given.
The above results showed that the voluntary blood donation campaign has received the attention of the whole society and absorbed the participation of people from all strata.
Possibly speaking, donating blood to save lives is a very significant and noble deed. Also from this, Le Thi Ai, residing in Ben Cat town’s My Phuoc ward has unobtrusively shared her valuable drops of blood with patients for many years. She has also actively mobilized her relatives to get involved in the voluntary blood donation campaign. So far, her family has given blood 40 times and she has also had 20 times for blood donation.
Mrs.Lien said that from 2008 to 2014, provincial Steering Board of Voluntary Blood Donation honored more than 2,000 outstanding collectives and individuals in the voluntary blood donation campaign. Many collectives and individuals were also awarded the certificates of provincial People’s Committee, the National Steering Board of Voluntary Blood Donation and the Ministry of Health for their good performance in the campaign.
This year, provincial Steering Board of Voluntary Blood Donation will continue honoring 1,161 collectives and individuals who have excelled at voluntary blood donation mobilization and directly given blood 5 times and above. The whole province is now home to a lot of blood donation teams and clubs with more than 4,834 members. They are seen as a main force in the local voluntary blood donation campaign.
