Volunteer workers

When the Covid-19 epidemic was complicated in the province, many young workers away from home had volunteered to support the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic. They have become enthusiastic volunteers, volunteering in the epidemic center, contributing to the beloved homeland of Binh Duong.

Volunteering for “3 on the spot”

They are workers under “3 on the spot” solution; however, they do not work at companies but at the field of epidemic prevention and control at the venue of Center for Supporting Young  Workers of the province.

The squad included young volunteers whose quantity at time could reach 200 participating into the backing up and fast responding young volunteers for Covid-19 prevention and control established by Binh Duong provincial Youth’s League

In particular, in the lineup, many young couples working far from home together to support from the early days are typically Mr. Lam Van Sum and Ms. Tran Thi Don. Every day, the squad serves the sampling in areas of high community infection in the province, contributing to the separation of infection (F0) from the community. Mr. Do Van Phung, Director of Center for Supporting Young Workers in the province, said: “Young workers participated in the frontline in testing, sampling, logistics and were arranged in central headquarters. The center provided adequate and safe accommodation and food for their convenience in the process of participating in Covid-19 prevention and control.”

During the anti-epidemic time, every morning, the squad of young workers taking samples gathered to arrive early to depart to localities in the province to support Covid-19 screening tests. In the evening, the returned to the common roof of the center to dine, rest and ensure measures for prevent and control of Covid-10 for themselves.

Ms. Vo Thi Hong Gam, a native of Kien Giang, staying and working as a worker in My Phuoc ward of Ben Cat town, said: "During the epidemic, leaving work is very sad to me, so volunteering to support sampling with everyone in the extreme and dangerous situation made me see that life is more than that as I can do helpful things with other people." In the early days of October, when many workers returned to their hometowns, realizing the need to support rapid testing for workers, the youth volunteer team of the center also rushed to support Ben Cat town for the night testing of Covid-19 and recording information for employees. Not only that, the squad was also active throughout 16 hours to update the vaccination shots on workers in Ben Cat town. Currently, when the epidemic situation is under control, many young workers still join the squad and support the Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control center when necessary.

Regardless of difficulties

Introduced about a female immigrant worker who volunteered for Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control at An Binh ward of Di An city, we went to visit Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung, a member of the Binh Duong 4 Quarter Hostel Association. .

Sharing initially about life away from home, Ms. Nhung said that she came to Binh Duong because she wanted to find job opportunities to have money to support her family and take care of her elderly parents and to9 pay for the costs of schooling. Although she has been busy with a life away from home, Nhung enthusiastically participated in the activities of the branch and youth movement of the ward. When the epidemic broke out, the company stopped working, Nhung had to temporarily stop her job without income to serve her own life and take care of her family.

Despite her harsh personal life, Nhung's youthful will and spirit was not hindered. With the desire to participate in social activities and volunteer for the community, Nhung joined with everyone else in An Binh ward to fight the Covid-19 epidemic. Putting aside her worries in the narrow room, Nhung enthusiastically signed up to volunteer to join the squad to support the ward's Covid-19 prevention and control. Nhung participated in and did not refuse nor hesitate to do anything from distributing food, giving gifts to disadvantaged people and children in need in the blockade area, to be on duty at isolation posts, to participate in the frontline of epidemic prevention and control such as community sampling, vaccination, data entry, classification of injection forms, etc.

There were days when she ate and slept quickly, Nhung tried to get everything well done. As some volunteers from the ward exposed to Covid-19, the work was more, but she always tried her best to support everyone else. Perhaps, being a immigrant worker, Nhung sympathized with the difficulties of those staying at the hostels during the epidemic. In the hostel association, workers are no stranger to Nhung's agility and enthusiasm to participate in propaganda to raise awareness or join hands to fight the epidemic and call on people to stay and not return to their hometown. Nhung said: “The attachment to peers in the local union is a meaningful and motivating thing to help me overcome the difficulties of a worker away from home. During the epidemic days, I was motivated to participate in Covid-19 prevention and control. I am always secretly and grateful to Binh Duong as a "good land" that has helped me support my family. And now, as it is difficult, I am supported by the tenants regarding the rent and the support of the ward. I really appreciate such affection."
